Golf Themed Party Ideas

Brody will be 3 on Monday!! 3!!! I can hardly believe it! To celebrate, we are having a golf themed birthday party with a few of his little friends tomorrow. Now, I'm not going all out for this party. I love going all out for the first birthday, but after that, I think the simpler the party the better! Especially when you have kids whose birthday parties are exactly two weeks apart like we do at our house. :) I am doing a few golf-themed decorations and even though it's not going to be super elaborate, I have enjoyed looking at lots of detailed golf parties on Pinterest!

I love all the details of this cute table!

I think the grass banner would add such a cute touch to a golf themed party!

Love these golf themed names for the food and drink!

Cute cupcakes!! We are having something similar at Brody's party!

I love love cute golf bag cookies as well as the idea of serving lunch in this cute little baskets!

I seriously love all the party ideas I get from Pinterest! What did we do before we could put all our cute ideas in one place? :)

Hope y'all have a great Friday!!

Jillian’s One Year Check-Up

I took Jillian for her one year check-up this morning!

I thought she looked SO cute this morning in some of her new birthday clothes!

DSC_0375 (428x640)

I love her cute little leopard Sperrys! I found these when we were in Destin this summer and could hardly wait for her to be able to wear them!

DSC_0377 (640x428)

Jillian had a great appointment today! She is right on track or ahead for where she needs to be developmentally.

DSC_0383 (640x429)

She weighed 18lbs 11oz- 10th percentile

She is 28inches tall-15th percentile

Her head circumference is 18 inches-75th percentile :)

She is SO petite! I asked our doctor is this was normal (Brody is 75th for weight and 95th for height so I’m not used to having a petite child) and she reassured me that is was completely normal and that Jillian had stayed on the same curve on the chart for most of her first year. She just thinks she is going to be a petite little girl! It’s funny that my 9lb baby is such a small one year old! We LOVE her little self so much!

DSC_0379 (428x640)

I asked our doctor lots of questions at the appointment today! It’s funny to me that this is my 2nd time with a one year old and I still cannot remember some of the things I once knew when Brody was this age. I guess mommy brain really has affected me over the last 3 years! :)

DSC_0384 (640x428)

We ended the appointment with several shots. We both cried! Ha! You would think I would get used to shot days, but I never do.  I think Josh should have to start taking the kids to shot appointments! :)

We are so thankful for a happy, healthy girl and a great appointment today!

Snuggle Time

First, I had to tell y’all a few more funny things Brody said about the chicken. He was talking about it when he woke-up yesterday morning. He kept telling me how scared he was, so I told him when he eats chicken nuggets that is chicken. He said, “Yeah, but those are little chickens.” I died laughing!  Then, we were in the car yesterday and we were not even talking about the chicken, or any animal for that matter, and Brody said, “Momma, lions eat chicken, but they aren’t scared.” :) I wonder what goes on in that little mind of his sometimes!

My very favorite time of day with the kids is at night after they have both have had a bath and are in their pajamas. There is nothing sweeter than clean, happy little ones! And I love snuggling with them before we put them to bed!

DSC_0161 (640x429)

Brody had poked Jillian n the eye and was trying to tell me why he did it! I love that he is smiling telling me about it! Such a little boy! :)

DSC_0163 (640x428)

I love these two so much!

DSC_0164 (640x428)

And thankfully, they love each other so much, too!

Alektorophobia: a fear of chickens

Apparently, Brody has several  fears as an almost 3 year old. We have learned of his fear of turtles this summer, and yesterday, I learned of his fear of rotisserie chickens.

I am going to be completely honest and say that everything about this situation made me laugh. It probably shouldn’t have, but I seriously could not believe this was happening. Are you ever in parenting situations or just life situations that are so crazy you just start laughing and can’t stop? Yes, well that was what happened to me yesterday.

I picked Brody up from MDO and the 3 of us headed to the store to buy groceries for the week. I always put Jillian in the seat of the cart and Brody in the basket area while we shop. The shopping trip was great. The kids were perfect and we were finishing-up our shopping when I went to the deli and picked-up a rotisserie chicken. I sat it in the cart and the look on Brody’s face was priceless.

Mommy, what is that?

It’s a chicken.

Mommy, is that a turtle? (Fear of turtles resurfaces)

No, baby. It’s a chicken.

At this point he has moved as far away as he possibly could from the chicken and is standing-up in the cart looking terrified. I’m pretty sure this is the first time he has noticed a rotisserie chicken is actually a whole chicken.

Brody, you need to sit down so we can finish shopping and check-out.

Mommy, put that chicken back. I am so scared of that chicken. Mommy, put that chicken back. Take it back. I don’t like that chicken. It scares me.

He wasn’t even kidding. I walked over to reassure him that the chicken, although it looked like it might be a live animal, was, in fact, no longer alive. I told him it was not going to get him and that it was just going to stay in it’s little box. Apparently, that wasn’t the reassurance he needed because he wrapped his arms around my neck and insisted he be carried through the store so that he did not have to sit with the chicken. So I agreed to push the cart full of groceries and a baby while carrying a 35lb child through the store. People stared. :)

We made it to the check-out without any other issues. He did ask about the chicken on the way home and I again assured him that the chicken would stay in the trunk where I put him and would not be making it’s way to the back seat with him.

We got home and I began putting groceries away. Brody sat at the bar while I unloaded bags. I went to get the chicken out of the bag to put in the refrigerator and decided to video him just in case he said anything funny about the chicken. Well, he definitely had something to say about the chicken…

My favorite part of the video is that he says, “I can’t look at it!” Sweet boy! I love how sweet and serious he is about his fear of this chicken.

Needless to say, he chose to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner last night. :)

Julee’s Baby Shower

Yesterday, I helped host a baby shower for my best friend, Julee. It was a wonderful afternoon getting to celebrate Julee and Preslee!

These were the adorable invitations Leslie designed for the shower. The pattern on the invites is the same as nursery bedding fabric. The colors of Preslee’s gorgeous room are grey, white, and light pink, so those are the colors we used for the shower!

We reused the frame from Jillian’s birthday party from last weekend. I just borrowed some of the nursery paint and Josh repainted the frame. We displayed a few weekly pregnancy pictures as well as a few ultrasound pictures.

The entry table for guests to sign-in. There was a framed shower invitation on the table along with the beautiful baby pink spray roses.

To the right of the entry was the dining room where the food and desserts were set-up. I loved the way this turned out! So simple and modern, which is what Julee loves.

Pretty silver balls hanging from the chandelier.

The cake table was definitely my favorite part of the shower décor! We borrowed the mirror from Preslee’s nursery. I was seriously so nervous driving it over to the shower, and we were even more nervous hanging it on the wall. I’m so glad it is safely back in her room now! :)

DSC_0370 (636x640)

Rachel had the great idea to attach these spray roses to the curly willow. It was gorgeous in person!

The cake and banana pudding cups!

DSC_0380 (640x428)

I took a shower invitation to Rick’s Bakery and they matched the cake perfectly to the invitation!

DSC_0366 (640x428)

I added a couple of drops of red food coloring to the banana pudding to make it pink! I thought these little individual cups turned out really cute!

DSC_0397 (640x428)

Leslie made these cute cards for all the food and drinks.

DSC_0364 (640x428)

We had a cotton candy table as favors for the shower. Julee loves cotton candy and Leslie saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect for the shower!

DSC_0416 (640x428)

We used a cupcake stand to display some of the cones.

DSC_0412 (640x428)

The paper had the same pattern as the bedding printed on it. SO cute!

The little sign on the table said…Thank you for celebrating Sweet Preslee.

The drinks…Peace Tea Punch, Water, and Coffee Punch

A cute little banner that we hung in the living room had Preslee’s full name on it!

It was a wonderful day that we have prayed so long for Julee to be able to experience. We cannot wait to meet Preslee in just a few short months! She is one loved little girl already!

A few more party pictures…

Here are a few pictures of the sweet friends and family who came to celebrate with us! I did a terrible job of getting pictures of people that attended the party. I have a lot of candid ones though!
