iPhone Pictures

Here are a few pictures from my iPhone from this past week!

Jillian crawled under the coffee table one afternoon this week and got stuck! I heard her crying and all I saw when I walked in was her little legs and feet!

We are a part of a small group that meets weekly in our home on Wednesday nights. This past Wednesday night, we (our small group) took laundry detergent and dryer sheets, rolls of quarters, pizzas, drinks and cookies to a local laundromat in a low income area of our town. We washed peoples clothes, fed them pizza and just had the opportunity to talk with them while they waited on their laundry to wash/dry.  We had a great night and we were all very thankful for the opportunity to serve in our community!

Brody has been loving the notes section of my iPhone. I find new notes from him daily. Sometimes he gets lucky and will actually spell words!

We went to the library twice this week! My kids LOVE going! And I also love it because it’s free, air-conditioned fun! :) We met Payne and Sarah there on Monday and then ran into our friends, the Scotts, there on Thursday morning!

After I blogged last Friday about running gear, Sarah brought her Garmin to the house one day this week for me to try out. I definitely wanted to try it before I considered buying one. I have used it twice this week and LOVE it! It’s such a great little motivator to run faster and further!

Last night, we we met some sweet friends of ours to eat at Mellow Mushroom. Jason and Holly have a boy and a girl almost the exact same age as Brody and Jillian, so it’s always SO fun to get to hang out with them. They completely “get” our life and can always relate to the things we are going through. It’s so nice to have friends that are in an identical season of life as us. I feel like we don’t have to constantly apologize when we are around them! :) We had such a great night talking and laughing with them! Oh, and we had to wait an hour for a table at MM with 4 kids! Ha! It was a crazy, fun night!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Interview with Brody

I saw this child’s interview on Pinterest. It was something I thought would be fun to do with Brody (and Jillian when she can talk) from time to time to see how their answers change! I did this interview with Brody this week.

What is your name? Brody Francis (Occasionally pronounced Thrancis)

How old are you? 2 and 3 (We always say this must mean 2 1/2! Ha!)

What is your favorite color? Birthday cake colors

Who is your best friend? Mommy

What is your favorite animal? Turtles (We all know how he feels about turtles!)

What do you want to be when you grow-up? A golfer

What is your favorite Movie? RoRo and Julie (Gnomeo and Juliet)

What is your favorite book? A golfer book (We don’t own a golfer book, but I guess I should try to find one!)

What makes you happy? Mommy and Daddy

What makes you sad? Mommy and Daddy

What is your favorite food to eat? Cookies

What is your favorite song to sing?  ABCs

And just because she is so sweet, I had to include these pictures of Jillian Kate from yesterday. She wore shorts for the first time and I thought she looked so big!

How to prevent diaper rash…

Today, we had a little incident at our house. It looked like this!

DSC_0634 (428x640)

Yes, that is our son covering himself in Desitin! Apparently, he was just doing a little diaper rash prevention. I happened upon this little situation after he had been quietly playing in his room for about 10 minutes. The part that was even more special was that while he was doing this, I was trying to clean-up Jillian, her clothes, and her bed from a monster diaper. I had just gotten everything cleaned-up in her room and then walked over to Brody’s room and saw this. I just sighed at the sight of another huge mess. A mother’s work is never done, and my kids are apparently never done making messes. :)

DSC_0636 (428x640)

It was just too funny not to document, so I grabbed the camera and took a few pictures before I had to clean the carpet, wash his clothes, and throw him in the bathtub.

DSC_0637 (640x428)

I asked him what he thought he was doing and he said, “Just putting on some lotion!” Josh said he looked like an old man at the beach that didn’t rub in his sunscreen! Ha!

DSC_0638 (428x640)

I remember at Brody’s 18 month check-up that the doctor said, “I can tell he is going to be a busy boy. You will probably want to keep the number to poison control handy.” Ha! Oh, how right he was. Busy and sweet, all wrapped into one little boy! And we wouldn’t want him to be any other way!

Picnic Essentials

Yesterday, I decided Brody, Jillian and I would go have a picnic lunch at the park. We even invited Daddy to come with us on his lunch break!

I started making everyone’s lunches  and saw Brody get a large bag out of a drawer and begin packing it full of things. I could see out of the corner of my eye as I made sandwiches that the things he was putting in the bag were pretty random. He was so excited though and I could hear him saying, “Oh yes! We need this for our picnic.” Then, he would work a little more and say, “Oh, how about this for our picnic!” I almost stopped him and told him I didn’t think we should take all these things to the park with us, but then I saw his excited and proud face as he packed and reminded myself that one day he will think going on picnics with his parents is dumb, so I quickly decided we would take anything and everything our sweet boy packed in his bag!

Here is Brody’s bag that he packed for our picnic….

The inside full of lots of special surprises!

DSC_0614 (640x428)

I packed a little lighter for the 4 of us! :)

DSC_0615 (640x428)

These are the important picnic essentials that Brody packed…

Coffee filter, creamer and cooking spray

Zip lock bags and travel sized tooth paste

DSC_0618 (640x428)

Red plastic cups and disposable coffee cups with lids

DSC_0619 (428x640)

Multiple Inchbug cup labels

DSC_0621 (640x428)

Lots of toddler spoons and forks. He also included 3 medicine droppers.

DSC_0622 (640x428)

Quite the collection isn’t it? He also included a huge bag of unopened chips from the 4th of July, animal crackers and gold fish crackers. At least we always know we will always be prepared when we take Brody on picnics with us! :)

We had a lot of fun eating lunch!

DSC_0626 (428x640)

This girl LOVED having her daddy there with her! Can you tell?

DSC_0629 (640x428)

We played for a little while after we ate.

Baby Doll

Sunday afternoon, Jillian was playing in her crib after her nap. I let her have one of her baby dolls to play with and a book to look at while she played. When I walked back into her room to check on her, I found her reading her book to her doll! It was definitely one of the sweetest things I have ever seen!

This was how I found her. She was just jabbering as she turned the pages.

DSC_0600

Isn’t it amazing how little babies can pick-up on things so early?

DSC_0603

She was having a little talk with her at this point! I’m not sure what she told her doll, but it sounded very important! :)

DSC_0602

Then she gave her a sweet little kiss! My heart melted at this point.

DSC_0604

More talking!

DSC_0606

And a little more loving!

DSC_0608

She also kept patting her doll on the back and saying, “awww!” She is such the little nurturing mother already. I loved watching her love her on baby doll just like we love on her, our little doll! It was such a sweet moment!

Prison Break

First, this show consumed much of our late nights this weekend! One of our friends suggested we watch it on Netflix, since we finished FNL, so we decided to give it try on Friday night. We ended up watching several episodes this weekend once the kids were in bed! It’s such a great show and I love how clever and well thought out it is so far.

prison_break_

Funny story…We stayed up until after 1:00 Saturday night/Sunday morning watching a few episodes. Around 3:30am, when we were dead asleep, one of our smoke detector batteries decided it needed to be changed, which means the smoke detector started beeping. (Side note: Why do these only do this at night? Seriously. Ours has never needed to be changed in the middle of the day! Ha!) Anyway, it started beeping and I guess I was dreaming about Prison Break because I thought the beeping was the alarm on the prison doors when they lock the inmates in or unlock them. Ridiculous! Ha! Josh was already out of bed checking on things before I even realized that we were not, in fact, in a prison drama. This is why I shouldn’t watch TV late at night! :) If you haven’t watched this show, you should! It’s SO good!!!

And here are a few cute pictures from Saturday night. We kept 3 of the 4 Parrott kids, so that their mom and dad could celebrate their anniversary with a dinner date! It was a fun, busy night with 5 kids 4 years old and under!

These 3 had a great time playing together!

Anna Kate was so sweet to “read” to Jillian…

and to give her lots of hugs!

I love this face that Hudson is making at Jillian.

Hudson and his concerned face. Looks just like his daddy!

The big boys played outside in the pool and sprinkler! Josh said they had a great time!

And the night wasn’t complete until they had a little dance party! Jack and Anna Kate’s facial expressions were cracking us up!

E-Mealz Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to Lauren, the winner of the E-Mealz Giveaway!

random

Last night, we went to a surprise 30th birthday party for, Jason, who helps lead the small group that meets at our house on Wednesday nights. The party was held in the basement of a pizza restaurant. Jason’s wife, Stacey, decorated the party in all things 80’s! It was such a cute theme!

Here is Jason’s Star Wars cake

DSC_0572 (640x428)

And here is the Pac-man cupcake board. So fun! My friend, Laura, reminded me that our children will have no idea about Pac-man. How sad!

After we left the party, we headed to the hospital, along with the Parrotts, to see our friends, Jordan and Jana and their new baby, Wyatt! Jordan and Jana did not find out the gender of the baby during their pregnancy, so we got a text yesterday afternoon letting us know that Little Ligon, as the baby had been known throughout the pregnancy, was a healthy, baby boy! We could not be more excited for them! They are going be the best parents to their precious boy!

Holding Wyatt made me wish I could just rewind time and have Brody and Jillian as brand new babies again. It’s such a sweet and special time that goes by way too quickly! New babies always make my momma-heart long for those first few days with our sweeties, but I absolutely love the season we are in right now with them and couldn’t be more thankful for the fun days we have together and the restful sleep we all get at night! Ha!

Silas came to the hospital to visit his new little friend! Hard to believe this guy will be a month old on Monday!

Hope y’all have a great Saturday!

Pinnable Me: Running Gear

I'm participating in Stephaine's Pinnable Me Friday again this week!

This week is all about running gear! I love to run! I definitely haven't been running as much as I would like to over the past 3 years, but I still love to go when I get the chance! I've been running on the treadmill a lot this summer, which I hate because I get bored. Hopefully, the cooler weather this fall will bring the motivation I need to get back outside and run!

This is my new running buddy, BOB! :) We got this a few months ago and I cannot tell you how much I love this jogger. It is so easy to push, even with 55lbs of sweet children in it! I went and ran one evening last week when it was almost 100 degrees outside and pushed the kids in the stroller. I was sweating like crazy, but they were perfectly dry and cool under the huge umbrella shades from the stroller. I can't say enough great things about it! There will be many, many miles put on this thing in the future!

I think these are such a great idea! They are ID bracelets that you wear while running. They have your name, address and emergency contact info/numbers on them. Obviously no one goes out running and plans for something to happen to them, but if something ever happened, I think this is an awesome thing to have so that your family could be contacted immediately. These even come in fun girly colors, too! They also make an id plate to put on the top of your shoe if you don't want to wear a bracelet. Best part is they are only $20!

I love these Garmin Forerunner watches. It give you an analysis of your run by keeping up with your overall time, your pace, and your calories burned. It would great if you are training for a race. My friend, Sarah, has something similar (or maybe the same one) that she used when she trained for a relay marathon this spring. I know she really liked using it!

A couple of summers ago, we ran into our friends, Leslie and Blake, when we were out one night. Blake had a new pair of these vibram five finger shoes. I made fun of him so badly! These shoes became a joke between us. Well, last year, Josh ran a 5K and these shoes were everywhere. Now, they are really common and I have decided I would love a pair, a pink pair, of course! I think they are so neat. I wonder how supportive they are though? I only run in ASICS, so I'm used to a lot of cushion when I run. Do any of you have these? If so, I would love to hear your opinion.

Happy Running and Happy Friday!
