Wednesday

We had a very laid back day at our house yesterday. It’s been kind of yucky, rainy and cold this week so we spent the day in our pajamas and just played at the house.

Brody played by himself for a little while in the living room while I did laundry and picked-up around the house. These storage ottomans are still one of my favorite purchases!

Brody decided to go into Jillian’s room and play with her after playing with his toys in the living room.

Sweet girl loves playing with all her girly toys!

They both “read” some books! :)

DSC_0232b

Brody made a few phones calls on Jillian’s keys!

DSC_0234b

This picture melts.my.heart. I love when he holds her hand! I also love watching the two of them interact with each other. I have no doubt they are going to be best friends!

DSC_0238b

I guess Brody decided that the girly toys were boring because he brought in a ton of his books and a few big trucks and a school bus for them to play with.

Josh got some cuddle time with Jillian when he came home for lunch. She loves her daddy!

DSC_0256b

Love this girl and her big blue eyes!

And I had to show you this picture of Brody from Tuesday. It was raining when we went to Bible study that morning so he wore his rain coat and rain boots. He is the cutest fireman I know! :)

Seersucker Love

I’ve always loved seersucker, but with spring upon us and summer around the corner I have been loving seersucker even more!!

I ordered the kids Easter outfits from Ashley this year. I adore the clothing she makes and love that she was able to coordinate seersucker outfits for them for Easter! As soon as I found out we were having a girl last spring, I started getting excited about cute coordinating outfits for this year. After Easter, Jillian can just wear this dress with her pink seersucker bloomers.

I’m thinking we will use these for some beach pictures this summer, too!

I also bought this cute seersucker bag from Ashley a few months ago. I carry a purse/diaper bag on a daily basis, but I needed a diaper bag to leave in the nursery with Jillian so that I did not have to leave my big diaper bag/purse each time. This bag was perfect for that!  (Yes, her monogram is JFK! Ha!)

 DSC_0220b

I was shopping a few weekends ago and found this cute little seersucker suit for Brody for the spring. I LOVE it and I think he will be such a little cutie in it! I’m planning to have his initials monogramed fairly small on the jacket. After it really warms up he can just wear it without the jacket.

We are planning on redoing Brody’s room this summer and turning it into more of a toddler room instead of a nursery. His walls are red so we are planning to keep the red and use light blue and navy blue with it. I have found some vintage airplane things that we will add to his room that are the same colors. I plan on getting a blue seersucker duvet for his bedding and then adding vintage airplane sheets. I think it will be super cute, but still very sweet!

I found these two cute seersucker finds online this past week. I think this jacket would be so cute paired with white jeans and sandals this summer! I have a serious love for my white jeans!

I also think this seersucker swimsuit is adorable. It’s cute and modest without looking like a mom swimsuit! :)

Weekend Recap

We spent the last part of the week and beginning of our weekend with some friends from our hometown. My friend, Laurie, her two kids, Shawn and Anna Kate, and Laurie’s mom all came-up for a couple of days to visit while they were on Spring Break.  I took a few pictures while they were here. We loved having them up here!

Brody at lunch one day! He looks so big in this picture! I cannot believe he will be 2 1/2 in a week! Do y’all think he looks like Josh? We don’t but some people do and I’m always curious to hear what people think!

This is Shawn with Brody. He was the ring bearer in our wedding when he was 5. He is 9 now! I started babysitting him when he was 5 or 6 months old. He was practically like my child until I had my own! I just cannot believe how fast he has grown.

DSC_0108b

This is Anna Kate. She was born 4 days after our wedding! Laurie and I never dreamed we would have kids so close in age, but since Brody came along a year after our wedding, he and Anna Kate are only a year apart! :) They had a great time together!

We walked around campus and Brody wanted to ride the “Woo Pig Sooie” as he calls it!

Saturday morning, Jill and Brandon had their 3rd wedding shower! It was at Brandon’s home church which is about an hour from here. They happy couple with some of their wonderful gifts!! Their wedding is 5 weeks away! I have tons and tons of pictures from all of their showers so I think I am going to do several wedding related blog posts the week of the wedding so that I can share them all at once!

Jillian tagged along for the shower! She was so good during the shower!

Saturday night we just hung around the house since it was so nasty and cold outside. After the kids went to bed, Josh and I watched SALT and ate cake pops from Starbucks. The movie was pretty good, but the cake pops were really good!! Have y’all tried them yet? I did not need to find out about those yummy things 2 weeks before I have to run a leg in a marathon relay or 5 weeks before I have to wear a bridesmaids dress! Ha!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Melissa and Little Sister’s Baby Shower

This past Saturday I helped host a baby shower for my friend, Melissa. She and her husband are expecting their 2nd child, a baby girl, in 5 short weeks or less. The baby, or as Melissa refers to her, little sister, does have an actual name, but they have chosen not to share it with anyone (family included) until the baby is born. They did this with their son, Caedmon, as well.  Josh attempted to bribe Caedmon with toys, candy, etc., if he would just tell us the baby’s name. Caedmon replied with, “Her name is sister.” Ha!! I’m going to just throw my vote out there and guess her name starts with either an A, C, M, S, or R. No particular reason other than I feel like guessing those letters. :) Here are a few pictures from the shower!

We borrowed this moss wreath from Jill’s wedding decorations. I added the pink bow to make it a little girly! This is the wreath Sarah and I made one night a couple of weeks ago. It was super easy!

We had lots of yummy food! We made several of Melissa’s pregnancy cravings as well as some of her other favorite foods.

Josh’s Birthday Weekend

This past Sunday, Josh turned 28!!! We celebrated his birthday all weekend with our families!

Josh’s parents came up on Friday evening and took us to eat dinner. We got home and had a cake that they had brought up with them! The cake had chocolate covered strawberries all over the top of it! Yum!

An attempt at a family picture! :)

And again! I just love my sweet little family so much!!!

DSC_0978b

Josh’s parents stayed around for a little while so that Josh’s mom could sew something for me. Brody entertained them by picking his nose. We are working on manners right now. Obviously, we are exceling as a parents in this area! Ha!

DSC_0989b

Saturday night, my parents, Brandon, and Jill came over for pizza to celebrate Josh’s birthday. Since we had cake the night before, Brody and I made a cookie cake for Josh and I let Brody decorate it with icing after we ate. Y’all will be shocked, but Josh doesn’t really care for Rick’s cakes because they have so much icing on them. I tried to get something he would actually eat since it was his birthday. :)

The little artist! He did a great job decorating the cake!

Singing “Happy Birthday” to Josh! I think Brody was singing Happy Birthday to himself in this picture and we were laughing at our funny boy!

The Past Few Days in Pictures

Whoa! It’s been a crazy few days at our house! Lots of sickness! Jillian has bronchiolitis and a double ear infection. She is on an antibiotic and we are having to use an inhaler on her 4-5 times a day. Josh has had a virus that caused him to run a high fever and take his first sick day EVER in the 5 years he has worked! Crazy! He is never sick. Brody is still on an antibiotic for an ear infection. I’m just praying we are germ free at our house now!! Here are a few pictures of the last few days!

Yesterday morning, Jillian was playing in her exersaucer and apparently she had a runny nose because Brody ran out of the room and then came back with a blanket, walked over to Jillian, and said, “Sissy, I wipe your nose! It nasty!” How sweet is he? This is him wiping her nose. :)

DSC_0901b

Brody likes for me to put him in Jillian’s bed when she first wakes up from her nap so that he can talk to her. This is Brody’s smile when I ask him to show his teeth. :) The look on Jillian’s face is priceless!

DSC_0924b

Brody sang some songs for Jillian while she sat in her glider and watched him! He is really into singing his “ABCs” right now so he sang that over and over to her.

DSC_0946b

He also showed her some of his best dance moves!

DSC_0942b

She was super impressed by her big brother and couldn’t’ seem to take her eyes off of him!

DSC_0934b

She seriously loves him so much! It’s the sweetest thing!

This is one of my new favorites of Jillian. She is such a happy, happy baby!

Big Girl Milestones

The first big milestone is that Jillian started eating solids last week! We had given her rice cereal 3 or 4 times in the past 3 weeks and she loved it, so we decided to bite the bullet and start solids. I made all of Brody’s baby food and plan to do the same for Jillian. Last weekend, I made apple sauce, peaches, and sweet potatoes.

Picnik collage

I made enough to get us through the next few weeks. I really enjoy making baby food and look forward to making lots of new things for Jillian to try!

Yummy!!

DSC_0800b

Brody was close by to make sure she was doing a good eating! :) He is a fantastic big brother to Jillian.

Our second big milestone this past week was that Jillian got her first tooth! She has been teething for a while, but her front left tooth finally broke the skin sometime Thursday night/Friday morning. It’s still barely above the surface so I can’t get a picture of it yet, but I’m hoping I will be able to soon. Brody always got his teeth in pairs so I have been checking to see if her other bottom tooth decided to appear as well. So far, it looks like it’s just going to be this one for a while.

I just cannot believe how fast our kids are growing, especially Jillian! She is actually 6 months old today! That’s hard for this momma to believe.  Hopefully, I will have her 6 month post up sometime tomorrow!
