Pinnable Me: Running Gear

I'm participating in Stephaine's Pinnable Me Friday again this week!

This week is all about running gear! I love to run! I definitely haven't been running as much as I would like to over the past 3 years, but I still love to go when I get the chance! I've been running on the treadmill a lot this summer, which I hate because I get bored. Hopefully, the cooler weather this fall will bring the motivation I need to get back outside and run!

This is my new running buddy, BOB! :) We got this a few months ago and I cannot tell you how much I love this jogger. It is so easy to push, even with 55lbs of sweet children in it! I went and ran one evening last week when it was almost 100 degrees outside and pushed the kids in the stroller. I was sweating like crazy, but they were perfectly dry and cool under the huge umbrella shades from the stroller. I can't say enough great things about it! There will be many, many miles put on this thing in the future!

I think these are such a great idea! They are ID bracelets that you wear while running. They have your name, address and emergency contact info/numbers on them. Obviously no one goes out running and plans for something to happen to them, but if something ever happened, I think this is an awesome thing to have so that your family could be contacted immediately. These even come in fun girly colors, too! They also make an id plate to put on the top of your shoe if you don't want to wear a bracelet. Best part is they are only $20!

I love these Garmin Forerunner watches. It give you an analysis of your run by keeping up with your overall time, your pace, and your calories burned. It would great if you are training for a race. My friend, Sarah, has something similar (or maybe the same one) that she used when she trained for a relay marathon this spring. I know she really liked using it!

A couple of summers ago, we ran into our friends, Leslie and Blake, when we were out one night. Blake had a new pair of these vibram five finger shoes. I made fun of him so badly! These shoes became a joke between us. Well, last year, Josh ran a 5K and these shoes were everywhere. Now, they are really common and I have decided I would love a pair, a pink pair, of course! I think they are so neat. I wonder how supportive they are though? I only run in ASICS, so I'm used to a lot of cushion when I run. Do any of you have these? If so, I would love to hear your opinion.

All those things are really neat. I used to run a lot too! Everytime I see fun running stuff I want to start again. That bracelet is such a great idea! Thanks for sharing!

I'm so jealous that you got a Dualie! And bless you for running in 100 degree heat with the kids! It's just been too hot to venture out in SC this week! I run in Asics too and I LOVE the cushion. From what I have heard about the Vibram shoes, you have to "train" your feet to run barefoot before slipping these on a running a 5k. I've asked for a Garmin for my birthday and I'm really looking forward to logging some miles! Happy Friday!

My husband loves his Vibram's. He has a pair for working out and a pair for just every day wear. I've tried them, but I have funky pinkie toes so they aren't very comfortable to me. He swears by them though.

Jennifer, try the Merrell Barefoot shoes. http://www.merrell.com/US/en/Barefoot_Collection
I wanted to try the "barefoot" running, as well. And the vibram toe-sock-look-a-likes weren't my favorite. The Merrell Barefoot shoe looks pretty normal and still gives the added feature of running with a more natural gait. I've LOVED them! Be careful when starting out, though. It took a while for my heels and shins to quit hurting from the difference in shoe. But, it's worth it!

I love this post! I have been hearing so much about Pinterest - I think it's time I finally check it out! I'm jealously happy for you and your awesome stroller! I never invested in one and I think that ship has sailed - no way I am pushing my 3 and 6 y.o. around in this FL heat. It would have been great when they were smaller, though :) I love, love, love my Garmin Forerunner. It makes all the difference in my running! Thanks for the info on the Road ID bracelet. I was hit by a car while running last September and this would have been SO helpful to the paramedics. Since I'm back out on the road (finally), I'm definitely going to invest! Have a great weekend!

My husband has a pair of Vibrams. He loves them and wants another pair. He's not much of a runner so he bought them more for everyday wear, but he did say that when he does run, he has to run differently and it takes him a while to get a good pace going.

Ooh...I have a single BOB, but since I now have two I was wondering how difficult it would be to push both kids in a double. I may have to think about getting one now!

I have the BOB and LOVE it. We had the travel system when Perri was born and hated how huge it was and quickly sold it and bought the BOB and use it for everything now. I just wish when we do need a double that it would be front to back seats not side by side since its so darn wide.

Also, have a Garmin 405 and LOVE it too! Don't run without it! I've thought about the little wrist thing but for now just stick my license in the pocket on my water I run with in case something happens.

I've thought about the five fingers too but just not sure on them. I run in Sauconys that aren't super cushy since Asics killed me though so maybe the more minimalist shoes would be good for me?

I have a pink RoadID bracelet and I wear it everytime I run! It's so important in case you pass out, hurt yourself or get hit by a car. You never know! Better to be safe!

Oh and those finger shoes are the weirdest looking things. LOL

Josh uses all this gear. He LOVES his garmin and he uses his 5fingers for runs less than 4 miles. They aren't supportive, which is the purpose, because they are suppose to make your foot stronger- so I'm told:)! I love these pink ones too! Of course, we can't wait to get the BOB and I'm SO LOOKING forward to running again!!!!

I have the vibrams and I LOVE them!! LOVE, LOVE them!! I am only up to 3 miles in them but so far they are great!! And I love my BOB too but I will not go out in this 100 degree weather, that makes you a rock star in my book!!

I hope this is okay...I have a Road ID coupon code for $2.00 off. The code can be used by anyone, one coupon code per order: ARR8627 Our PTO had a 5K race as a fundraiser and we received these pamphlets with the coupon codes. Maybe it will save some people some money. :)

I'm not a fan of running at all especially if I had to push 55 pounds at the same time. The shoes are interesting!

I have a pair of Vibrams, the Bikilas! And I LOVE them. Actual running shoes hurt my feet, even if I am just wearing them around casually. I have to have them so lose that it's not even funny. I wear them ALL the time and run in them as well. Thinking about getting another pair!!

I don't have the five finger toe shoes, but I WISH that I did! A couple of friends own them and they are wonderful...maybe soon I will get my own pair :)

My son did a sports/agility camp and they highly recommended these shoes. My eight yr old wears an adult size, so they were pricey but he LOVES THEM! He says they are the most comfortable shoes to run in.
