Proof Brody cannot be left alone!!

This morning, I was on my computer and on the phone with Josh explaining to him something I was emailing him to fill out. As we were finishing-up our conversation, I saw Brody run past me with a bag of tortilla chips. He dashed right past where I was sitting and straight into his room! I started laughing and told Josh what he was doing, so we finished our conversation and quickly got off the phone. As I rounded the corner to Brody's room to get the bag of chips, I heard the entire bag being dumped into the floor!! Reason #738 why Brody cannot be left alone, even for a minute!

36 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along:
36 Weeks
Size of baby: 18.5 inches long and weighs about 6lbs. Jillian is the size of a crenshaw melon!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 28lbs
Maternity Clothes: Yes-all maternity clothes except for dresses.
Gender: Girl!
Movement: Yes, she is moving all the time! It's so fun to watch her!!
Sleep: I am sleeping about 5 hours a night but I toss and turn all night long. I just can't get comfortable.
Symptoms: Crazy dreams (the past few days they have all been about going into labor or having Jillian), reflux and Braxton Hicks contractions. And my ribs on my right side are killing me because she is always up in them!
What I miss: Sleeping on my back and stomach. I don't sleep on my side when I'm not pregnant so it's very hard for me to get comfortable on my side at night.
Cravings: None
Best Moment this week: My doctor's appointment today. Jillian's heartbeat sounded good! I'm measuring on schedule and only gained 1lb in the last two weeks. I haven't made any progress so far, which is a good thing since I am having a c-section!
What I am looking forward to: Spending time with Brody and waiting for Jillian to arrive!

18 days or less until we meet our girl!!!

Hello? Hello?

Brody made a few pretend calls on my phone one morning last week. I love hearing his little voice say, "hello?" and "bye, bye!"

Big Brother Books

Brody and I went to the library on Monday to check-out some books about being a Big Brother. We are really trying to talk a lot about Jillian to Brody. I know he cannot fully understand what is about to happen but he is very smart and he is really starting to piece together a lot of the things he does know about his sister.
He was very excited when we got to the library. We have gone several times and he loves the children's area. It's off to the side and not near any other sections so he can talk above a whisper and walk around as he pleases. He loves to walk through the books shelves and see all the books. You can hardly see him in this picture but he's in the middle! ;)
Here are the books we chose to bring home. Funny story...I just glanced through the books as we were pulling them off the shelves but didn't read through them. When we got home to read them I realized one book talked about mommy needing bo*b cream for nursing!! We decided to take that one out of the stack since it isn't really age appropriate for a 22 month old. I don't really want Brody walking around talking about it to people about me needing that. Ha! And trust me, he would! ;)
Brody worked a few puzzles after we found our books. These types of puzzles are his favorite kinds. We have some at home and he works them so quickly!
He played a computer game, too. I use the term played loosely. He really just liked putting the headphones on and typing on the keyboard. He thought he was so big! Brody has really enjoyed reading these books. He and Josh spent some time reading them the other night. Brody likes to look through the pictures and talk about the babies in the books. I think he is going to love being a big brother. We keep telling Jillian she better get ready...her brother is a wild man! I am sure he is going to just love her to pieces!

35 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 35 Weeks
Size of baby: 18 inches long and weighs almost 5 1/4 lbs. Jillian is the size of a honeydew melon!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 27lbs
Maternity Clothes: Yes-all maternity clothes except for dresses. Except the outfit I am wearing in the picture this week is not maternity! :)
Gender: Girl!
Movement: Yes, she is moving all the time! It's so fun to watch her!! It's my favorite part of pregnancy!
Sleep: I had allergy issues this week so I didn't sleep that well but it had nothing to do with pregnancy.
Symptoms: Crazy dreams (I am only having one a night now instead of 3 or 4), reflux and Braxton Hicks contractions.
What I miss: Sleeping on my back and stomach. I don't sleep on my side when I'm not pregnant so it's very hard for me to get comfortable on my side at night.
Cravings: None
Best Moment this week: Brody has started to call me Big Momma! It's seriously so funny! He will look at me and say, "That a BIGGGGGG Momma!" He also looks at my belly some times and says, "That a bigggg sissy!"
What I am looking forward to: Spending time with Brody and waiting for Jillian to arrive!

Our Weekend

Our weekend actually began early Friday morning around 1am. Our friends, Ryan and Sarah, welcomed their sweet baby boy, Payne into the world. Sarah is a school teacher and went into labor on Thursday during the first day of school. :) She went to the hospital Thursday afternoon and had Payne early Friday morning. I headed up to the hospital about 10:30 or 11 Thursday night and then left soon after Payne was born. We went back to visit them Friday evening. We are so excited for Ryan and Sarah! Sarah blogged more about their weekend on their blog here.

After we went to the hospital, we went to eat and then relaxed at the house. Saturday morning, Brody and I ran several errands while Josh worked on a few things around the house. Brody and I went to Target to pick-up a few things. We made a stop by the vacuum cleaners before we left the store. :)
We headed to Old Navy after that to see if they were having any good sales. We didn't get anything but we did visit with the mannequins before we left. Brody kept giving this girl a shoe and tried to get her to put it on. I didn't have the heart to tell him she was not real! Ha!
He apparently didn't care and laid a big wet one on her before we left. He said, "Bye bye girl!"
We left there and met Julee and Kimbo for lunch. Kimbo was my suite mate my freshman year of college and was one of my good friends all through our time at OBU. Her and her husband were up here for the weekend. I was so glad to get to see her and spend some time with her at lunch. Brody was crazy but thankfully, she didn't care! :)
Brody and I ran a few more errands and finally headed home early that afternoon. Brody took a four nap once we got home. When he woke-up from his nap, we found him naked, covered in poop and poop all over his crib! Ha! It was so nasty! I have heard about this happening to so many people but it had never happened to us until Saturday. Oh my word!

Sunday was promotion day at our church. Our church had former Florida State football coach, Bobby Bowden, come speak as part of the kick-off celebration for the new church year. We also had a tailgate party/lunch after church services. We also were all encouraged to wear our favorite sports team shirts. It was a lot of fun! Here are the boys dressed in the Hog shirts! Our family at the tailgate party. I can't fit into any of my Razorback shirts! Ha!
I cooked chicken spaghetti for dinner Sunday night. I think Josh and I had both been craving it! :) Brody had such a fun time playing with his spaghetti! I mentioned on Twitter that I had made chicken spaghetti and several people asked for the recipe so here it is. There are a million versions of it but this is the one we like best!
Chicken Spaghetti
4 boneless chicken breast
8oz Velveeta (cubed)
1 can Rotel
1 can Cream of Mushroom ( I use cream of chicken soup because I don't eat mushrooms! Ick!)
1 package spaghetti noodles
salt, pepper, garlic- to taste

Boil or bake chicken chicken.
Boil spaghetti noodles according to package directions.
Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces.
In pan combine Cream of Mushroom, Rotel (I use the whole can but you can use half if you don't want it as spicy), cubed Velveeta in pan and heat over low to medium heat until Velveeta melts.
Once heated through, combine with noodles and chicken. Mix together, season to taste and serve.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Baby Shower Stationary

I wanted to share with you the SUPER CUTE shower invitation and stationary that my friend, Leslie, designed for my shower this past weekend.

This is the invitation. The top and bottom border are the same pattern as Jillian's crib skirt fabric. The little flower is the same as the flower print on her bumper fabric. She also added the little mod bird on the invitation. I just love the way it turned out!!! We received so many compliments about them!
These are the thank you cards Leslie designed to match the shower invitations/decor. I love that they have our precious girl's name on them. I think they were a perfect way to thank our family and friends for the wonderful gifts! This is the other cards that she designed. I wanted some that I could use to send after Jillian was born for meals, help with Brody, etc. The "J" can be for Jennifer or Jillian so it works for me to use right now or later on as my own personal stationary. I think these are so fun and girlie!! Leslie is so talented! I am always amazed at what she designs! I cannot wait to work on birth announcements and Christmas cards with her soon.

Make sure to check out her blog to see more of her work!!
Thanks Les for all your hard work!

Summer Time Fun

Last night, Josh got out the water hose and sprinkler to water our yard. Brody decided he wanted to play with the hose before Josh got it hooked-up to the sprinkler. The boys had the best time running around and getting wet! I could hear Brody squealing while I was inside cooking dinner!

Cute little diapered bottom! He would laugh and scream every time he sprayed Josh with the water! He LOVES the water!

Jillian Kate's Shower

Sunday afternoon, some sweet friends and my sister hosted a precious baby shower for Jillian and me. Everything was just SO cute! I wanted to share pictures of all the details so this post if fairly long but it's full of cuteness!
The shower was at Julee's house. This sign on a door arrangement greeted all the guest as they walked into the house. The table in the foyer with Jillian's baby book. There was a framed invitation and a vase full of pink bubble gum. The adorable food table in the dining room! It was seriously soooo cute! I love that they used all the colors from her nursery. The pink and turquoise were so cute together. The drink table. Little birds, bird nest and bird eggs were used all around in the decorations. This might be my most favorite Rick's cake ever. I thought it was adorable! The invitations matched Jillian's bedding and the cake matched as well! The bottom layer of the cake is done in the same pattern as Jillian's crib skirt. We all loved the cake and none of us wanted to see it get cut! The back of the cake. I loved the little mod birdie! There are cute little bird accents in Jillian's nursery as well.
They had a little area of the table that had some of my pregnancy cravings. I craved sour candy for weeks. I don't even like sour things but I ate tons of it for weeks so they had sour watermelons. I also have loved the pretzel M&M's. Have you all tried those? If not you need to! And of course, Twix candy bars. I never leave Target or Walmart without buying one when I check out. :) Little mini brownies with icing on top. They looked like little bird's nest! The little bird eggs in all the nests on the table were chocolate covered almonds. Fruit kabobs in little flower pots with moss. They were sooo good! Banana pudding. One of my favorite desserts! The sweet hostesses and me.
Leslie, Julee, Sarah, me, Maggie and Jill
I loved seeing Jillian's name on the big banner. The paper was patterned to match her bedding fabric. Leslie is a graphic designer so she went all out on all details!! I am going to have to share the invitations and stationary this week that Leslie made. She is sooo talented! The girls also had my ultrasound DVD playing during the shower on the tv.
My weekly picture from the week before the shower. So many of our friends were able to come celebrate with us. It was so fun getting to spend the afternoon with them. Opening all the wonderful gifts!!Jillian was given so many cute things! Me with all the gifts we were given! I just love seeing all the PINK!!!
We were so blessed by our wonderful friends! My sweet mom! She and my dad successfully raised two girls (although we made it difficult most days. Ha!). Thankfully, they will be able to give a lot of advice when it comes to raising a girl! My sis. Jillian is going to have so much fun shopping with her aunt Jill!
Josh's mom. We were so glad she was able to come up for the shower and spend the weekend with us!
My cutie and me. I cannot believe we are about to have 2 kids!!
Our family of 4! If you look up at the TV you can see Jillian's profile in 4D! It just happened to be on the screen when Julee took this picture! :)
Jill, Leslie, Me, Julee, Stefan and Halle Kate. We were so excited Stefan and Halle came up for the weekend!!
The party planners!! These two worked so hard on all the details to make Sunday extra special. I am so thankful for them and love them both! Julee-thank you for hosting the shower at your house. You are such a precious friend.
Jill, Julee and Leslie stayed up until 2:30 working on things Saturday night and then worked all morning on Sunday. The shower was perfect and I appreciate their hard work so much!! I hope you three were able to get some much needed and much deserved rest after pulling off such a wonderful shower!
