Silly Boy

Last night, the three of us were eating supper and Brody had finished his meal and was about to eat his yogurt when he asked for the oven mitt that was on the counter near him. I had left it out after pulling something out of the oven. He likes to wear the oven mitts when I cook but he has never asked to wear them while he eats. We tried to get him to take it off so he could eat his yogurt but he insisted on keeping it on his hand. Silly boy!
The funniest part of the story is that Brody is right-handed but because he wanted to wear the oven mitt on his right hand, he had to eat with his left hand! It was a little bit of a challenge for him but it sure didn't stop him!He thought it was pretty funny and so did his momma and daddy! There really is never a dull moment at our house! Brody is just so funny and so clever these days. I cannot imagine what we have in store with this boy! :)

27 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 27 Weeks
Size of baby: 14.5 inches long and weighs 2 lbs. Jillian is the size of a head of cauliflower!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 15lbs.
Maternity Clothes: I am wearing regular dresses, all maternity shorts and mostly maternity tops. The shorts are so much more comfortable than regular shorts with a bella band.
Gender: Girl!
Movement: Yes! She is moving a lot. We can see her move and kick, which is so much fun.
Sleep: I am sleeping so much better. Josh put a fan on my night stand and the noise and cool air puts me to sleep. I think I freeze him out because we turn the air down, turn the ceiling fan on and I use the small fan each night. Ha!
Symptoms: I still have crazy dreams every night and I still have reflux and heartburn but it seems to not be as bad if I don't eat anything really heavy after 6 or 7 each night. My newest symptom, if it really counts as a symptom, is that I am HOT! I know it's summer and I know everyone is hot but I am burning up all the time. Hot weather, plus pregnancy hormones, plus big belly makes for an extra hot summer. :) I cannot cool off and feel like I sweat all day long. Getting dressed is when it seems the worst. I sweat putting on make-up, drying and straightening my hair. This will be the second time I have been pregnant throughout the entire summer but it wasn't nearly this hot the summer I was pregnant with Brody.
What I miss: Winter weather! Ha! I'm kidding. :)
Cravings: Cold food!
Best Moment this week: We started working on the nursery this weekend. I am so excited to see how it turns out. I think it's going to be really cute and really sweet!
What I am looking forward to: My doctor's appointment on Wednesday!

Our Weekend

We had a great weekend full of lots of fun activities!
Friday morning, Brody and I met our play group at Chick-Fil-A for a little outdoor playtime. It was hot as blazes but we had a great time visiting while the kids played! Brody loves playing with Stella and Lilly. These 3 were all born within a 3 week period so they play really well together. Our other friends, Caedmon and Brayden were there along with Lilly's brother Reid. It's crazy fun when we all get together! Friday night, Josh and I went to a cookout at the Rowe's house with our old small group. We had a great night visiting with sweet friends. I laughed when I got home and thought about all the funny things we talked about together. I am so thankful for each of these couples and I am SO glad they still let us crash their fellowships, even though we are in a different small group now. :)
Saturday morning, I got up and got ready for a baby shower for my friend, Holly. She is having a precious baby girl in August. I wish so badly that I had taken pictures at her shower. You cannot imagine all the cuteness at that shower. Holly has an insanely talented family. One of her sisters crochets and her sister in law sews and embroiders so you can only imagine all the adorable things they had made for baby Taylor. I left that shower soooo excited about all things girly and pink!! :)
Brody was still in his pajamas when I left for the shower! He had a fun time with his daddy while I was gone.
Once I got home, Josh started taking the guest bedroom apart so that we can start working on Jillian's nursery. Her crib came in on Friday so we thought it was about time to get moving on that room! :) I think we are planning on getting the crib one night this week. I cannot wait to see it!
That afternoon, the 3 of us went to work at Razorback Relief! We had a great time and we were actually there when they broke the world record of 1.2 million meals! It was so fun! We took Brody with us to "help." He was wonderful and just sat in the stroller for 2 hours and watched everyone around him. I love that even at this age he is learning what it means to serve others. We sported hairnets while we worked. :)
Our table was so fun! There were 3 other couples that were at our table with us. None of us knew each other but we had such a great time visiting and working. Our table made 23 boxes in just a little over 2 hours. That's 4,968 meals for the people of Haiti! My job was to seal the bags of food after they had been filled. Josh's job was to box the meals and tape the boxes.
After we left RR, we went to eat pizza. We tried a place we had never been before and it was sooo good! I love little hole in the wall restaurants. They always have the best food!
Brody loved the food, too!
We got home and I decided I needed some dessert so I made s'mores. I have been making them in the oven with the broiler. They are super fast and easy that way.
YUMMY!!!!
Sunday morning we went to church. It was our turn to work in the nursery. We actually had 3 year olds so we were very busy but very entertained all morning. There were 11 kids in our class and 9 of them were boys! ;)
Our little cutie on the way out the door to church!
After church, we went to a lunch baby shower at Jason's Deli for Katie, Jason and baby Colson. I didn't take any pictures but they were given so many wonderful things for Colson. We cannot wait to meet him in a few short weeks!
After the shower I went and bought groceries and then came home and took a nap! This busy weekend made me a little tired. ;)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!

Vacation-Day 4

Last Sunday, (Father's Day) was our last full day in Hilton Head. We spent the day at the beach!
The entry to the boardwalk had this fun little fountain that all the kids loved. Brody had the best time playing in it! I think Josh had a great time playing as well! :)

Brody took a little snack break after playing in the fountain.
He wasn't really a fan of all the sand this year. I remember last year, he tried to eat the sand, but this year he couldn't stand for it to be on his feet! Ha!
Looking at his feet! He spent most of the day doing this!
The beach was huge and was super crowded!!
This was when we first got there! I did walk around in just my swimsuit the rest of the day! ;)

After a fun day at the beach, we headed back to the condo and got ready for dinner. We ate at Kingfisher that night. It was on the water and Brody loved being able to see all the birds on the bank.
Telling me all about the birds! He was more concerned with my necklace than looking at the camera! I have some nice tan lines from my swimsuit! Ha!
Love these two and I am so thankful for such a wonderful dad for our two precious children. After dinner, we headed back to the condo and then the 3 of us walked to Harbour Town for the Greg Russell concert. Many of you told us to make sure and go and we were so glad we did. Greg has been playing nightly concerts in the summer for 25 years. They are geared towards children but it is an equally fun experience for the parents. Josh and I thought he was great!! He draws a huge crowd each night.

After the concert, we walked down a little ways and found a bench to sit on and eat ice cream. (The ice cream thing became a really bad habit! Ha!) Our bench was next to this statue. At one point Brody walked over to it and said, "Hi Big Daddy!" Big Daddy is my dad and Brody thought this was him.
My dad started working on his MBA 2 months before Brody was born and he will officially be finished in 3 weeks. All of Brody's life my dad has been in school which means for the past 23 months, my dad has been studying or reading books. I can count maybe 5 times that we have been to their house in the past 2 years that my dad has not had to study or read at some point. Brody doesn't know any different except to see my dad reading so he thought the man with the book was my dad. I text my mom and said this was proof dad studies a lot! Ha!
When people would pass us Brody would say, "That a Big Daddy!" and point to the statue. Bless his sweet heart. It was so precious!
Before we left to go back to the condo, he planted a big kiss on Big Daddy! Such a sweetie.
I think I have shared most of the good pictures from our vacation. We spent Monday in HH and then left that afternoon to head back home. We had a wonderful vacation and enjoyed time together. It is most likely our last trip as a family of 3. I cherished all the sweet time we had together on our vacation and all the fun memories we made with Brody. We are so looking forward to Jillian joining our family soon. I know it's going to only get better...crazier but better! :)

Vacation-Day 3

Last Saturday, we woke-up early and headed to Savannah, Georgia for the day. It is about an hour or so from Hilton Head. We got to there a little after 9.

Brody was trying to figure out what we were doing!

Remember a month or so ago when I asked you about this outfit? Well I ended up doing his monogram and I love the way it turned out!

Savannah is so neat! We loved walking around downtown!

My boys in green! :)

One of the reasons we wanted to get down there so early was because we wanted to eat lunch at The Lady and Sons, which is Paula Deen's restaurant. They start taking reservations at 9:30 so Josh's parents got in line once we got there. The line was SOOO long. It wrapped all the way around the building to the other side. I think they got in line about 9:15 and by the time they got to the reservation desk they we given a 1:30 reservation! It fills up fast!
Once we had our reservation time, we walked around for a while. I loved seeing all the neat old building, trolleys and the cobblestone and brick roads and sidewalks.
We also saw these pretty horses! Brody wasn't so sure what to think about them! After walking for a little while, we were hungry and burning up from the crazy hot weather so we went to the Savannah Candy Kitchen and got some popcorn and ice cream for a mid morning snack! Ha!
The candy kitchen was really neat. I didn't really want any candy but I loved looking at all of it!
Once we had our snacks, we went to sit back outside at an umbrella table. We used Brody's bib pouch as a popcorn holder. It worked out great! The best cookie dough ice cream ever! Josh had cookies and cream.
After more walking and sweating and even a trip to the van to cool off in the air conditioning, it was time for lunch! We were seated on 3rd floor of the restaurant!
Brody decided to have the buffet. :) He had lots of southern vegetables that I am sure were all covered or cooked in butter! Ha!
Josh had the meat loaf sandwich and fries...yes, those large things are fries! I had the crab cake burger and fries! We loved the wonderful food and it was just a fun experience all around! Josh said that they had the best sweet tea there that he has ever had and honestly, I would have to agree! It was ridiculously good!

After lunch, we walked down to River Street and strolled along the river and into some little funky shops. Did I mention it was hot? Because it was! Here is our fam by the river. Brody refused to look at the camera as he was mesmerized by the "big boats"!! After a little strolling and sweating, my bloggy-turned-real-life friend, Jenna, met us for the afternoon! Jenna lives just an hour or so away from Savannah so once we decided on Hilton Head I text Jenna to see if she wanted to meet up for the day. She was so sweet to drive to meet us. Jenna and I had recently spent the weekend together in April at Beth Moore so I was soooo excited to get to see her again and visit. Plus, it was even more fun that Josh and Brody got to meet her, too!
We decided to hang out in this little drink shack of a place since it was cool! It was great to be able to chat and keep Brody somewhat confined. Jenna definitely got to see Brody's little personality. At one point he walked up to a man who had tattoos on his legs and tried to rub the tattoos off!! I was about to die of embarrassment and Jenna and Josh were about to die laughing! Thankfully, the man thought it was just as funny.
Brody talked to "Jenn-ahh" about all kinds of things including his favorite obsession...vacuums. :) He also told her numerous times that his name was "Bobby". I guess we need to work a little harder on his "r" and "d" sounds. Bobby and Jenn-ahh were best friends by the end of the day! I know he loves her as much as I do!
Thanks for spending the day with us, Jenna. We loved every second of our afternoon with you!
Protein, Bobby and I cannot wait to see you again soon. We think you need to start planning your trip to Arkansas! :)
