Puppy Potty

My parents recently bought Brody this cute training potty! He loves dogs so much so my mom knew he would love this potty as well. Obviously, it was love at first sight! Giving the potty a little kiss!
He loves to sit on the potty like it's a chair.

He loves to pretend he is emptying out the little bowl.

He loves to play basketball and use his potty as the goal.

If we could only convince him to actually "use" his potty, then we would be in good shape! :)

He always tells me he needs to potty. As soon as we sit him on the potty he looks at me with his big, brown eyes and says, "Diaper!" Haha! So we haven't made a ton of potty progress. He has pooped on the big potty twice but we haven't had any success either way on the little potty. We are being patient and hoping that he will want to potty sometime soon. Until then, Brody will still be using his potty for other purposes! :)

Love the puppy potty! Good luck! I've been told that boys are harder to potty train and to wait until they are about 2 1/2. My son is 28 months and we are just starting now. But my son shows no interest...atleast your son does!

The potty is adorable. Brody is still young, and probably doesn't quite understand what is expected of him. Maybe, if he sits with his pants off, with a book, before a bath, (with water running) you may get lucky, ( by accident.) If he goes once, you will praise him, give him a treat, and he will make the connection. I do agree with Nicole though, I never tried until my son and grandson were at least 2. Brody is so cute, and smart. I'm sure he will catch on fast, once he does it a couple of times.
Good luck!

Hugs!

We had a little potty that's only use to this day has been as a step stool! My son was on the verge of turning 3 & I felt like I was starting to be a bad parent because he wasnt trained yet...He just had NO interest at all! Then one day he just decided to wear underwear. We had 2 or 3 accidents the first week and none since then! When they are ready...they are ready!

That potty is too precious! My god daughter is not much older than your little boy and they just recently got her to finally use the potty all of the time. They are expecting #2 at the end of October so it was perfect timing. The only problem is that right away she refused to wear her diapers anymore so there was the huge fear of her going everywhere and having lots of accidents but it did not happen. Now the other business is taking a little longer, but I think that might be normal. Good luck with that puppy potty!

Good luck!!! I agree that boys generally do take longer, I had to time my little boy's potty training with spring break at Mother's Day out, so he was 29 months when we did it, but I agree with the person who said "when they are ready, they are READY!" It took my little man one week, and really, 3-4 days of accidents and that was it. Good luck!! It will feel so great when you are out of diapers for good!

Hi - just found your blog and just wanted to say your son is adorable! And that has to be the cutest potty I've ever seen!

We are also in the process of potty training our 31 month old daughter. They started at her Mothers Day Out and she was doing really well with it at the beginning of the year but then we had a baby in March and she pretty much wanted nothing to do with it. We have only started back on it within the last month and so far so good - M&M's work wonders :) Don't stress too much if he's not potty trained - everyone warned me that a lot of kids regress back to diapers when a major change happens (i.e. new baby). And I totally agree - when they are ready they will do it. :)

Just wanted to share that according to the Farmer's Almanac the signs to potty train are June 25-30 and July 1-4, 22-31st. Older people use the signs to do everything plant a garden, stop smoking, etc. When I broke Walker from his bottle I had no problems whatsoever, then I found out the week I took his bottle from him was in the sign to break a baby from the bottle. Good luck. We are trying to potty train Walker now. I'm working on sitting on the potty, etc, but plan on really pushing it the 25th. Keep us updated on anything that works!

What a cute potty! I'm sure he will start using it when he is ready.

Atleast you are getting good use out of it until then...

Brody is so adorable. I am potty training my almost 2 year old now and she is still not so sure, although she has gone a few times..although I think only because we bribe her with marshmallows :) If he plays with the potty too much it may be a good idea to get a plain white one, that works better with Layla because she doesn't get distracted by any "bells and whistles" and it also looks like a "big girl" potty. By the way, we have the same due date ;)
