Baby Girl

I wanted to share our idea (as of right now) for our girl nursery! I love it!

We really want to use white furniture this time. The crib and changer/dresser are really modern and I like that. We did a bit more traditional with Brody's furniture and I like it just as well, but I just want something different this time. The turquoise behind the changing/dresser combo is what color we are thinking about painting the room either way...boy or girl. I have had a few people ask why we are not using Brody's furniture this time. The reason is that Brody's crib transitions into a toddler bed so he will continue to use his bed and dresser for the next few years. He will not be 2 until after the baby is born so he will still be using his crib for a few months after he/she is born, then we will transition his bed to a toddler bed. I'm in no hurry for him to be able to get out of his own bed! Ha!

The flower print fabric and the solid pink would be for the bumpers. I would probably do minky dots in the solid pink. I'm not for sure what I will do for a bed skirt. I really don't like the idea of a bed skirt with a modern crib but this one pretty much requires that I use one.

Our Best glider is the same color as the green one shown, although not the exact same style. I LOVE it and am so glad we went ahead and invested in a good one. I will be able to just move it to the new nursery and use it with this baby. It is almost like new. I thought the little pillow with her initial would be cute to add to the chair.

I love the pink chandelier and thought it would be cute to have little lamp shades covered in the flower print fabric to attach to the chandelier. I'm think I might like pink, but I also think white would look great since the furniture and trim are white. It might pop a little more than the pink one would.

I love the idea of using birds in the nursery. I think they look so cute and modern. It might even be cute to have the birds done in the fabrics we use for the room. I have even seen a few cute but modern little bird houses in the same colors that could be placed on shelves, etc, to add to the theme. I just love the little birds!

Finally, a few of my church friends have made rugs for their nurseries similar to the pink one shown and saved a ton of money. They have told me they can teach me but from what I hear I need to get started on it by week 20 or it will never get done so as soon as we know boy or girl, I will get going on that! :)

So what do you think? I realize this modern type nursery isn't for everyone but we really think it's cute! I will show you are ideas for baby boy later this week!

I love it! I love little birds too and I think a birdhouse would be too cute. If you do the rug you have to share how to make it on here. That's awesome!

I love all your ideas. I'm pregnant with my 2nd(due in May), but we don't know what we are having so I haven't decorated yet. With my first we didn't know what we are having, we ended up having a boy, I painted the room the exact same turquoise you want to do and did this bedding since it was gender neutral http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?DeptID=62438&CatID=62730&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=148f0f5&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=external%7c62644%7c62645&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=1&cmVirtualCat=&CmCatId=external|62644|62645|62730
Since I had a boy I used a lot of brown and green in the room. The new baby will be in the turquoise room so it is fun to see your ideas for making it girly if we have a girl this time around! Good luck!

I love it! It's is super feminine without being too much. The turquoise color that you are wanting looks a lot like the color we have painted our living room and dining room. It is bright, but we have cathedral ceilings and I love it! Everyone doubted my choice at first, but most people like it now! :) I think it will be perfect for a girl or boy!

I love all the ideas. There are so many beautiful details, and good luck on the rug. There is no way I could ever make something like that!

This is SO pretty. I am normally not a modern type decor person, and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE ALL of these ideas! You are GREAT at this. I just adore that chandelier!
And you're right about Brody; I always kept my little ones sleeping in a crib as long as they'd stay in! ;)

VERY sweet! I love, love, love the flower fabric and the birds. If I could re-do my girls' rooms right now, I would totally add some little birdies in there somewhere...I love them! If you find the time once you find out how to make the rug, please do share. I've been wanting a rug for my girls room but they are really dang expensive! Thanks for sharing your ideas, have a great day :)

I love everything about it! I've been thinking I would love to throw in some birds to the next nursery (if we have one - always planning) or owls.

I'm secretly hoping for a girl but another boy like brody would be perfect too!

I've never commented before but found your blog through Kelly's! Your blog and the nursery ideas are so sweet...have fun deciding! I also have to add that DO NOT rush when it comes to moving Brody to a toddler bed. We waited with all of our children until they were three! They weren't climbing out of the crib, so there really wasn't a reason to change a good thing! :) People will often tell you otherwise, but if it's working, keep him in there. My kids are all close in age and it was a saving grace! OK, I'll stop now and leave you alone - :).

There are amazing bird prints that would go great with your modern room for a girl. She also has adorable boy options!

I love it! My favorite part is that floral fabric (the colors are perfect) and the lamp with the little birds. While it scares me to raise a girl (since I had two sisters and we were drama) I love to look at girly stuff.

I'm also not sure if I have ever commented on your blog, I found you through Kelly's Korner too! I have found some great bird softies on etsy. You can also use a more tailored modern looking bedskirt for a polished look.
