Temper Tantrums

I almost didn't blog this video because, as a parent, it's embarassing. But because I blog for our family and because this is something I want to remember and something I want to show Brody's friends when he is in high school, I decided to share it. :)

This is Brody's new thing this week. He finally stopped biting and now he is throwing temper tantrums. This has happened 5 times in the past 3 hours. The Lord is teaching me patience. He has to be.

Even on days like today. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a mom. I am so thankful for a wild little boy who tests me and pushes the limits. I am so thankful that I get to spend every minute of everyday with him.

Can you imagine what the terrible twos will bring if he already bites, throws fits, and gets stuck in the toilet at 15 months?? :)

The fit went on for 2 whole minutes but I just couldn't keep recording it!

That's awesome. He's such a faker! There's no way he was really still that upset, he was just trying to get a response out of you. :)

Aren't days like that fun?

i stumbled on your blog through Kelly's Korner and I have to say that this video cracked me up! I am so sorry but I loved how he turns to make sure you are still there every few seconds! Hilarious! I have a 21 month old girl and I love seeing what new thing she is going to do or say each day!

Sad day!

I also came upon your blog from Kelly's Korner. Your little guy is toooo cute, I think I'd just blame his fit throwing on being tired. I miss my little boy being "little".

I've gotta say, you're lucky! I have some MAJOR tantrum throwing boys. They like to scream and thrash and scream some more. The little one has done it since he was very little (12 months old!).

Check it out - My 18 month old throwing fits when he was 12 months old (http://www.myeverydayblog.com/archives/1194) when I told him NO.

And my three year old when he was 17 months old throwing fits because I told him he couldn't play with mommy's camera (I'm such a mean mom!) (http://www.myeverydayblog.com/archives/277)

Their fits are STILL a huge production with the throwing of things, screaming and stomping!

i came over from kelly's korner and just wanted to say that fit or no fit brody is one precious little guy! (and i love his name...my husband's name is brody, too!) :)

I am a blog stalker, I found you through Kelly's Korner and I am hooked.

The video is precious. Just laugh and do not stress over it. Every child does not, even if their momma's won't admit it. Enjoy these moments, even the tantrums, they go by too fast.

Lilly is in a squealing phase when she doesn't get her way. It is lovely as well. He looks so tired..all that tantruming is probably exhausting. Haha.

First, I love your blog!

Second, this is so funny! I think I did this until I was in high school LOL!

That's a good fit! Lauren screams and wails and hits! Brody is so cute and is totally faking it, I love it!

I feel bad because I am DYING laughing at him. I just can't believe that little sweet smily boy is throwing a fit. I think he's just tired. Harper acts like that when she's tired - she doesn't roll on the floor yet but she cries and gets mad very easily. It starts around 4 every day. ha! which is why we go to bed by 6. :-)

That is so funny and I am glad that I am not the only parent going through this right now. Its all Randi seems to be doing these days!

Shannon said...

That is so funny! I love how he looked at you in the beginning like, "ummmm, don't you see me? give me a response!" :) Too funny!!

Try having two of those!!!! We have been throwing fits for a while, like it started around 15 months too probably. But my girls are way more vocal than that, and they like to flop the entire length of the living room floor. They say to just ignore it, which is fine as long as you are at home, but in a store it gets embarrasing.

Ashley said...

So stinkin adorable! I love how he is sitting up and then he jumps back down into the floor. It's so cute how he is rolling!

Love him girlfriend!

Poor Brody, seems to me like he is just looking for some attention. If thats him really throwing a fit, then I would trade you that for what Lincoln does to me on a day to day bases. Lincoln screams, cries, throws things when he doesn't get his way, gets out of the bathtub when he is getting dried off and getting clothes put on, he also does that when he first wakes up from a nap too.

Was he sleepy? I seen him rubbing his eyes.... Lincoln gets real whiny when he is sleepy.

Cute video!

This is too funny! I must say there is hope in the future. To me, twos were much easier than ones, because you can at least somewhat reason with them. Love you blog!

i (also) came by Kelly's Korner. Girl you are lucky if that is his "fit". Love it! He is so tired!

This is hilarious and you have NOTHING to be embarassed about! My daughter Ella started doing the same thing around this age and at 20 mos, she still does it, just not as often. I finally started picking her up and setting her in a quasi time out and I would tell her she couldn't get up until she calmed down. Of course it was a struggle in the beginning to get her to understand, but she stays put now! I think the hardest part for me was to not laugh at her b/c she was just so ridiculous over nothing sometimes. This too shall pass, do not worry!

Lisa said...

Do you want to trade for a day? I'll take this fit for sure!
I just have to laugh. His is kind of funny because he keeps looking at you to see if you are paying attention. He just looks really tired. He's so darn cute. AND you have NOTHING to be embarrassed about. We all seem to be going through the same thing.
Oh and my fav is his head in the toilet. Does that sound mean? I don't mean it to be at all. It's cute funny =)

I've commented once before. I came over from Kelly's blog awhile back and absolutely laugh almost every time I read your blog. My son, Micah (17 months), is SO similar to Brody. He throws fits DAILY...multiple times complete with hurling himself down on the floor. It is a lesson in patience for sure, but I wouldn't change his strong personality for anything. It is encouraging to see other moms dealing with the same things.

Leah said...

Haha oh boy. He and Perri would get along just fine. She'll be walking and then stop, bend down and roll over and start throwing herself around like that. And if I pick her up to change her diaper or for a nap or something and she's playing, she starts thrashing all over. And has now started hitting me in the face!! Not being playful, but when she's mad she's started hitting! Not fun at all!! Too funny though, he just looks sleepy so maybe that's why??

That is too cute! He totally hit his head on the wall and was bot phased by it at all-such a boy! Anywho ur blog is so cute...I stumbled upon through Kellys Korner, however I have met you once before through your sister. I took a class with her at NWACC (biology.) When I met you, you were actually prego with Brody and we were outside at NWACC. ( not that you really needed to know all that )

Small world!

I'm totally right there with you on the tantrum business. Bradyn, my 16 month old, wails when he doesn't get his way. He's thrown himself in the floor a many of times. Just wait unitl Brody throws a fit in public. OH. MY. WORD. Bradyn has done this on two occasions and we normally just remove ourselves from the premises. Once they start talking more I think we'll be better off. Toddlerhood is rough on these little guys. They understand SO much, but they're not able to communicate. I must say this stage is hard, but it's still fun and enjoyable even with the tantrums. Brody is such a smart and handsome kid! You're a good mommy. =) I have to remind myself when my sweet son is throwing a fit that this is typical and it will soon pass.

Megan said...

I think he was ticked that you were filming him and not doing anything about his tantrum! Ha! My nephew does this and I crack up every time!

He is so tired. Poor Brody!

I feel bad, but that is too cute because I think he is a faker! Poor little thing, he is a good actor! Hope you have a better day today!

We are right there with you!

There with you only I have a 23 month old. Just wait until separation anxiety sets in, nobody in the house is getting sleep and then that no sleep makes everybody fussy during the day. I'm speaking from current experience. I just wish I could throw myself in the floor like they do and then things would be all better. Still yet, I wouldn't trade motherhood for all the money in the world. It's just not always fun or easy!

Hattie said...

Girl be happy you were at home. Now when they throw them at stores, that's a good time. My 13mo. old's new thing is he head butts everything when he gets mad and my 4 yr old is slamming doors. Oh yes we're having a blast here too! Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Paige said...

Poor Brody! He looks tired. My 14 month old throws temper tantrums like that. Usually he's tired or hungry! Just wait until you get the 3 year old temper tantrums. I always heard terrible two's but in my experience three's are way worse!

Kari Beth said...

OH no, Jennifer! Sorry, but I must say I laughed a little bit! Poor little guy! Is this what I have to look forward to? I'm scared :)

timlinzrowland said...

I hate to tell you but, twos are bad and three's are ten times worse than two's! He looks sleepy and you can tell he is just trying to see what reaction he is going to get out of you! Good luck all the advice in the world sometimes isn't enough, I had to spend many hours praying for God to give me strength, patience and wisdom on how to handle it!

Someone looks very sleepy! I remember those days, even at 4 they don't go away. Im gearing up for round 2... It's quickly approaching! I know how NOT fun these moments are, but just enjoy them! And, don't you love how fake this tantrum is?!?

Chea said...

I'm sure you are going to laugh but when I played the video of Brody crying, my cat got scared and started looking around (with his fur standing up on ends may I add) and my dog panicked and was looking fearlessly around the house for where the sound was coming from! Guess you can tell we have no children!

Tricia Loves Makeup and Fashion said...

I was introduced to your blog through Kelly, with the now famous poof hair. BTW, I love it!
Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that as soon as I started playing the video, my 14 month old son, Sebastian walked over to the computer to see who was crying. He sympathized for Brody b/c he started fake crying with him. Just thought it was too cute not to share.
