Lunch, Snack, and Dinner!

Today, Brody and I met a few friends for lunch! We had a great time just talking and enjoying some grilled cheese sandwiches at this really fun place on Dickson Street.
Ashley (Avery was off to the side in her carseat), Kate, Melissa, Harper, Kelly, Brody, Julee and me. I love all the crazy connections the 6 of us girls have..it is so neat!

Harper and Brody look like a happy couple in this picture! :)
Brody was hiding behind his cup while Ashley took his picture! It was hilarious! I think he was flirting. :)

While I was making dinner tonight, I gave Brody some Fruity Pebbles to try. I just bought them on a whim at the store, thinking he might like a few for a snack. He loved them!! He probably stuffed his mouth for 30 mins straight and didn't say a word. :)
Yummy!!!

Tonight, I tried a new baked potato soup recipe for dinner. It was so good and so easy!! I thought I would share it in case it sounded like something you might want to try.
Ingredients
3 bacon strips, diced
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 cups chicken broth
2 large baked potatoes, peeled and cubed (I cheated and bought canned potatoes b/c it was easier!)
1 cup half-and-half cream
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce ( I used Frank's Red Hot but any would work)
Shredded Cheddar cheese
Minced fresh parsley
Directions
In a large saucepan, cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 1 tablespoon drippings. Set bacon aside. Saute onion and garlic in the drippings until tender. Stir in flour, salt, basil and pepper; mix well. Gradually add broth. Bring to boil; boil and stir for 2 minutes. Add the potatoes, cream and hot pepper sauce; heat through but do not boil. Garnish with bacon, cheese and parsley.

Hope you had a great Monday!

I just love reading your blog! I noticed in one of your photos how you had labeled Brody's sippy cup. I had the hardest time with labeling sippy cups with my first child Carter. When my second child Carson came around I discovered something called bumpy name labels. You can purchase these at inchbug.com. They are great, especially for the church nursery! Anyway I just wanted to share something I found useful.

I think I've commented once or twice, but wanted to say I'm usually a lurker. I saw some of these pics on Kelly's blog and thought I needed to tell you about something for Brody's cups. You can go to www.inchbug.com and order these bands with name on it that goes on the cups so when he takes them to MDO they are already labeled with his name. You can choose color, rather to put his first name only or first and last, and to be some sort of design on it or not. I got them for Bailey and then when she started at her new school, all the other parents had to have some. Just keeps you from having to write on his cups. The only thing is it doesn't have anything to put on the lid, so the lid remains unmarked unless you write his name like you've done. I've never written her name on the lid and we've never had a problem.

Those little one's are so cute and it will be so funny to see how "their" story unfolds as they grow up together!
