Puppy Advice

This is my Mawmaw in the picture with us. If you read my blog this summer, you remember that my grandpa passed away very unexpectedly just a few weeks before their 55th wedding anniversary. Since Mawmaw is now alone in her house, she has decided she wants to get a puppy. If you know Mawmaw and you are reading this, you just fell out of your chair. :) I did the same thing when she told me she wanted a dog. Let's just say that my grandma's house is spotless...to a fault. I didn't wear shoes in her house until I was in college. My 47 year old uncle still takes his shoes off when he is in her house. I also don't walk on her carpet, but instead I jump from the hardwoods onto the living room rug because I don't want to mess up her vacuum lines. Y'all think I am kidding, but I'm not.
All that to say that it is a HUGE deal that Mawmaw wants a dog. She needs some company and I think it will be great for her, especially since she will be indoors a lot this winter. Since no one in our family has a dog, we aren't exactly sure what type of dog she should get. I know a lot of y'all have dogs, or know a lot about them, so I thought you could help.

Here are Mawmaw's rules about the dog.....
  • It has to be an inside dog. (This still shocks me)
  • It cannot shed.
  • It needs to be a small enough when it is full grown for her to pick it up and carry it.
  • It can bark but she doesn't want one that yelps all the time.
  • It needs to be a good lap dog.
  • It needs to be a dog that will sleep in her bed at night.
  • It can't be too hyper.
  • It needs to be a dog that is good around babies/children since my uncle has small children and we have Brody.
  • It has to have a good demeanor.
  • It has to have a cute face. (That cracked me up!)

Ok....surely there is a perfect dog for her out there, so let me know what you think. I am pushing for a Bichon, but that's because I just think they are sweet, cute, and great lap dogs, but we are open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Deer Widow

Last night was a first for me since we have been married....I was a deer widow.

Josh left Friday night after we ate for my dad's birthday so he could go hunt with Jill's boyfriend, Brandon, and Brandon's dad this morning. He and I have only spent the night apart probably 5 times in the 2 years we have been married. I don't really sleep so well when he is gone. I decided to make the most of it and get some things done around the house while he was gone and Brody slept.

I rented The Proposal and watched it. We saw it when it was in the theater, but I thought it was such a cute movie, so I watched it again.
I drank A LOT of Diet Coke.

I organized my closet. Yes, I know that I do wild and crazy things on Friday nights! :) Josh and I have separate closets in our bathroom, which I really love! I like for all my things to be color coordinated and I try to only use white hangers...I know that's weird. It usually is pretty organized, but the last week or so I had been having what Josh likes to call "closet fits". It's happens when I can't find anything to wear and I try on 10 outfits and throw everything I have tried on into a big pile on the floor and then I leave it on the floor. Basically, it was a mess and I couldn't walk around in there. This is a few pics of the "after". I should have taken a "before" but I forgot.

I realized that half my tops are brown, black or gray. I seriously need to work on buying some color. I don't know why I am so attracted to those 3 colors!

I caught up on laundry. I feel like that rarely happens now that we have a baby who goes through a lot of clothes. I am not complaining at all because I think Brody's little clothes are sweet, I am just saying that this empty basket deserved being documented. I think it lasted about an hour and then something was dirty again! :)
I did a few other random things that needed to be done around the house. I felt like I had a pretty productive Friday night! :) Then on Saturday, Brody and I hung around the house and then went and did a little shopping with my mom.

Josh text me while he was hunting and told me he wanted enchiladas for dinner while we watched the game, so I made those and baked these little bite sized cookies. They are just the kind from the store, but they are so good. I think I ate 10 cookies!
Josh got home just a few minutes before kickoff of the Razorback game. Someone was very happy to see him! All day he kept asking for "Da-e". It was precious!
This picture cracks me up! Brody was trying to walk around the living room. He wore his new size 18 month jeans today that Gigi got him and his Hog onesie is 18 month also. I cannot believe how fast he is growing!

Brody and I ready to cheer on the Hogs!

We seemed to have not cheered hard enough because they lost, but at least we had a good day! :)

Ok, I'm off to get clothes laid out for church and the diaper bag packed. We have to work in the nursery during church which means we have to be there early so I need to have everything together! Hope you had a great Saturday as well!

Black Friday

I do not shop on Black Friday, instead, I love to spend the day with my sweet family. Josh was off work and we had no plans. It was just a wonderful day to spend hanging around the house.

Josh and I teamed-up to make breakfast...pancakes and bacon. Yummy!
Brody ate a lot for breakfast! He has a huge appetite and constantly eats. We had to take him to the doctor on Wednesday for a cold and he has gained almost 3lbs in 3 weeks! He has already outgrown most of his new birthday clothes and this week he wore some 18 month clothing. He is a 25lb chunk. I can't believe just 4 months ago he was in the 5th percentile for weight. Not any more!
After breakfast, I cleaned the house and did some laundry while Josh and Brody played and read books. Brody loves for us to read to him!

We ate leftover Thanksgiving food for lunch, then Brody went down for a nap and Josh and I laid around and watched football all afternoon. I took a nap, which is what usually happens when I lay on the couch and "watch football"! Haha!

That evening, we had planned to go to dinner with my parents and sister to celebrate my dad's birthday, since we didn't get to really celebrate on Thursday. We finally got out of our pajamas at 5:00. Josh and I were in our bathroom getting ready and we thought Brody was playing in his room. We seriously had left him for about 5 minutes alone. When I went to check on him, I found him in the kitchen. This was what had been entertaining him. A new box of 100 Ziploc bags.

We went to eat dinner, then came back to our house for dessert. My dad doesn't really like birthday cake. I know..how are we related?? So no Rick's Bakery for us tonight. Instead, my mom got chocolate fried pies from this really good catfish restaurant up here. We had those and they we SOOOOO good. I probably could have eaten 2 or maybe even 5 of them.

After we ate, Brody helped my dad open his gift. It was HILARIOUS!

Where is Brody in this picture? Well, that's him under the bag!

Brody and my dad played with the bag for a while last night and Brody loved every minute of it.

We know what we are getting him for Christmas...boxes, bags and tissue paper! :)

Thankful

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving!Josh and I are very blessed in that our families do Thanksgiving together. We started this the first Thanksgiving after we were married. My parents hosted the first two Thanksgivings at their house up here. Our first Thanksgiving, we had been married only 12 days and just gotten home from Mexico a few days earlier. Then, on our second Thanksgiving, we had a 7 week old! Yes, we moved fast! :) This was the 3rd Thanksgiving and since this is the first year Josh and I have been "settled" during Thanksgiving, we all traveled to Benton to Tommye and Gerald's house. This is the very first time I have ever traveled on Thanksgiving. Both sets of my grandparents and my great-grandparents lived in the same town as us growing up so we never had to go further than 10 minutes on the holidays. It was definitely different to get up and leave town yesterday morning, but it was a beautiful day and we had a great drive down! But who wouldn't with this stud in the backseat?
Josh's grandpa and my grandmother also joined us for lunch. I am so thankful Brody has a great-grandparent on each side of our families. My great-grandparents (dad's grandparents) were alive until I was in high school and I have so many wonderful memories of the holidays at their house. I think there is something special about great-grandparents.
Josh's mom, my mom and my grandma all cooked lots of wonderful food! Look at all this food for 9 people!!
The desserts...Cookies, chocolate pie and pumpkin pie
After dessert, what is better than some Thanksgiving football? Look who had the remote! After we ate, we went to check out the new motorcycles. For about a year, Josh and his dad have been buying and selling motorcycles. It's just a fun hobby that they enjoy doing together. Well, they just had 14 motorcycles delivered this past week from Dallas that they bought. I think they have 16 motorcycles now! Too bad I still don't let Josh ride them! Ha! Josh really doesn't like that I am anti-motorcycles. I told him he could sell them, just not ride them. Can you imagine how tempting this is to have all these and he just gets to look at them! :)

Last night, Josh and I were talking about all the things we were thankful for and we were again reminded how we are truly blessed. Our precious son, our amazing families, our home, food, clothing, cars, material things, wonderful church, sweet friends, but most importantly our Savior. I am so thankful for the abundant life He has given us. I pray that I have a heart of Thanksgiving more than just one day a year.
I AM BLESSED!

Happy Birthday, Big Daddy!

Not only is today Thanksgiving, but it is also my dad's birthday. He is 53 today!
I'm so thankful for him. He is a great dad and he is a wonderful Big Daddy to Brody. I still can't believe my parent's are GRANDPARENTS, even though I was the one who made it happen. Haha! I just feel like they are too young to be someone's grandparent! Brody said he can't wait for all the fun he is going to have with Big Daddy as he grows-up! I am sure sports, golf, go karts, Corvette rides, weight lifting and running are in the future for these, too!Happy Birthday, Big Daddy! We love you!

Thanksgiving Cards

Last week, I showed you the beginning of our Thanksgiving cards that Brody and I were making. I wanted you to see the finished product! I thought they were cute and I know our family will love them!

All the supplies....

I traced Brody's hand while he slept. He is just too "on the go" these days to sit still long enough to let me trace it.

This is the front of the cards.....

The sweetest little hand. Actually, he has huge hands, but they are still sweet and small to me. Brody colored them and did a great job!

This is the inside....
It says, "Happy Thanksgiving from our little Turkey!"

I'm off to finish baking some cookies for tomorrow. I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving. I know I have SO MUCH to be thankful for this year!

A mini-Josh

Brody is a little version of Josh and I just love it! I think Josh is SO cute and I love that Brody is looking more and more like him these days. This is how I found them the other night... Look at their arms...they are laying exactly the same way. I promise I didn't pose them either. Josh usually sleeps with his mouth open like Brody is doing in this picture! Haha! They really look alike when they do that.

This just melts my heart.

I am in love with these two.

Thanksgiving Tie Onesie

This is what Brody will be wearing on Thanksgiving Day. I wasn't going to show this onesie to y'all until after Thursday, but when I got it in the mail I was just SOOO excited about it that I had to share it!
One of our friends from Benton makes onesies, tutus, bow, etc, so I had her make this for Brody. She is so talented and so creative! I just told her I wanted a Thanksgiving tie onesie for Brody and she found this precious fabric that has parts of Bible verses on it. It is so neat and something that Brody will continue to wear even after Thanksgiving. I love it! Here are a few pictures of some other things Amber has made that I love!
Cute little Razorback tutu setThis was for a Lilly's first birthday as well as for when he little brother was born right around the same time. This would be so cute for pictures with Santa! I love the little candy cane!
Another cute Christmas tutu I love this pink and orange tutu and bow.

Go check her blog out HERE.
