Into EVERYTHING

Brody is seriously into everything. We can't leave him alone for a second! Last week I was taking a shower and Brody was playing in the bathroom. When I looked out to check on him, he had rolled our bathroom in toilet paper. Sunday morning, we were getting ready for church and I was drying my hair. When I looked down, Brody had climbed into the cabinet under Josh's sink and was playing. This morning, I had stepped into another room to put something up and when I came back into the kitchen, Brody was playing in the trash can. I almost gagged. Another time this morning, I walked into my bedroom and found parts of Deuteronomy on the floor! I had laid my Bible on the floor by my night stand when I finished reading it last night and Brody apparently found it this morning. Perfect.
This afternoon, he was playing alone in his room and I heard the door on his dresser opening and slamming. It's never a good thing when he is slamming things because of his little fingers, so I walked in to check on him, and this is what I found him doing!

Haha! I know what you are thinking....does she not watch him? The answer is yes, but I obviously am going to have to stop letting him out of my sight, even for a second! :) I am so thankful for him and wouldn't change any of the craziness!

Thank You and Sonic Date

First, thank you so much for praying for our family last week. I cannot even begin to tell you have much that meant to us. It truly is what got us through the week. As difficult as the week was, it was also a wonderful time spent with our family. We talked, shared stories, looked through old pictures (embarrassing pics that Josh had NEVER seen until then), and enjoyed time together. As challenging as it was, there was such a peace over my grandmothers house. I know that only came from God, so thank you!

My grandma commented several times last week and many times since then that Brody helped her get through the week. I think he helped us all so much. She told me on the phone the other night that she knew I was not planning on getting pregnant with him, but she knew that God knew we would need him in our family and we really do. He was the BEST thing for our family last week. Anytime I got upset, I could just look at that sweet face and everything seemed better. He was VERY entertaining and so incredibly well behaved. We were so blessed with a good, happy baby. He enjoyed himself as well because he got all kinds of attention and all kinds of desserts. I swear, every time I walked into the kitchen, he was begging for a bite of someones' food. I don't even want to know what all he ate last week. It would give me a total panic attack. I had to ask people to stop feeding him at some points because I was afraid he was going to explode! :)

Speaking of eating....Brody and I went on a little Sonic date today. I have always loved Sonic dates. Jill and I used to go in the afternoons in high school, since we rode to and from school together. In college, I loved going on Sonic dates with my friends in the afternoons. When Josh and I dated, we would always go on the weekends. Sonic is just better when you have someone to share it with you! We went this afternoon and got a snack...some fries and a diet coke. I put a towel down in his bedroom and we played and ate our fries. He also had a few sips of diet coke. He is so sneaky now that he can drink out of a straw. You can tell by these pics that he was loving our snack!

Look at those little hands reaching for the fries. So sweet!

Prayer Request

Please say a prayer for my family. My grandpa passed away yesterday under very tragic circumstances. Our family is heart-broken over the loss. My parents were still on their trip in California, so Jill and I had to call and tell them the news. That was probably one of the hardest things I have ever had to do (it is my dad's dad). Fortunately, they were already coming home today so they did not have to rearrange flights, etc. Please pray especially for my grandma. Her and my grandpa would have been married 55 years in October.
Thanks in advance for your prayers. It means the world to us.
This was from a couple of weekends ago when we went to visit him. It was the last time we saw them. I'm so glad I had my camera! :)

Happy Anniversary and a few other things....

Today is my parent's 30th wedding anniversary. I'm having to tell them Happy Anniversary on my blog because they are in San Francisco on a little trip and they are having a "cell phone free trip". Haha! It's been very hard not to call them this weekend! They did call and let us know that the made it when their flight landed. The call lasted about 45 seconds. My mom did send me one text yesterday. That's about it. I feel like the worried parent and I want to know what they are doing and if they are ok. Haha! Happy Anniversary! I hope y'all call me when you get home! :)
This picture is proof that I graduated from college. I graduated in May 2007, but our classes names were just engraved on the sidewalk at school. I thought it was pretty fun picture! I added the arrow in case you couldn't find me. :)
Brody loves being able to reach all his toys now. He knows how to get them off the shelves. If only he knew how to clean them up, too! :)
I'm not for sure what the sad face was about. Sweet boy!
I took this picture at breakfast. I love those sweet little feet! Footed pajamas melt me heart, especially when Brody is wearing them!

I attended Reese's memorial service today. There are no words to describe the service. You could feel the presence of God in that room in such a sweet way. Katie gave the eulogy and it was simply amazing. She is by far one of the strongest people I know. She is such an incredible example of Christ and continues to be even in this difficult time. I know that it was only through Him that she was able to speak today. It was a beautiful service that celebrated the life of their sweet daughter and I was so honored to have been there for it. Please continue to pray for Katie, Jason, and their families.

Weekend Fun

We have had a great, but full, weekend!
Friday night, our church hosted a family night at the Aquatic Park. It was all young families from our church that attended. It was such a fun night! We met up with some of our friends and were able to just play and visit. Brody had a BLAST! He is such a water baby! He loved every minute of being there.
Little man crawled around the pool!

But sometimes daddy helped him walk!

This was Brody under one of those mushroom water fall things. He LOVED it! He went crazy every time he and Josh would run in and out of it!

Saturday morning, Josh went to play his usual Saturday morning game of disc golf with some friends from church. This particular morning, Melissa and I decided to tag along and bring our boys. Melissa has a little wagon, so we just hauled the boys around in it. Brody had a great time. It was fun watching Josh play.

Josh and Chris had just finished up playing when I took this picture. They were hot and tired!

Brody was busy making important phone calls on my his blackberry while they finished up playing.

After we got home, my mom and I went shopping. She and my dad are going to California next weekend to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary, which is on the 17th. She needed some new things for her trip, so we hit up several stores. I think we were gone for 4 hours. It was nice to be able to get out of the house alone.
While I was gone, Josh and Brody had some guy time. They ate, napped, and then went to watch the Razorbacks practice football. They seemed to have had fun together. I was so ready for some Brody kisses when I got home though.

Brody got some news toys from my parents this weekend. One of the new things included this basketball goal for his bathtub. He loves playing with it.

Honeymoon Pictures

Today, I am participating in Kelly's Show Us Your Life, reception and honeymoon pictures.

Josh and I were married in November 2007. For our honeymoon, we went to Cabos San Lucas, Mexico! It was a WONDERFUL trip! We stayed at the Rui Palace. It is an all inclusive resort, so we were able to just eat, rest, and relax. It was so great after 13 months of wedding planning (and 7 years total of dating)!
Josh and I at the airport at 5 something in the morning. We got married at 4:00 on Saturday afternoon and our flight left Little Rock at 6:00am the next morning, so we had to get up at 3:45 the morning after our wedding. It was way too early, but we were so excited we didn't care! View from our room! It was so beautiful! I don't think the pictures even do it justice. The view of part of the resort. One of the 4 swimming pools. They overlooked the ocean! We spent pretty much the entire week laying by the pools relaxing. And eating, of course! I guess Josh didn't have anything to read because he read my US Weekly. I think he was really into the story he was reading here! Haha! Hanging out by the pool in our fake designer sunglasses we bought from some random man on the beach! Haha! After dinner one night! I cannot even explain to you the amounts of food we ate. It was insane. I don't think I had eaten for a month before the wedding and I know I was starving by the time we got there! We took a boat to The Arches one day and spent a couple of hours there. The rock formations were so pretty!

This trip was even more special because it is the only trip we have ever gone on that I wasn't either pregnant or we didn't have Brody, since we found out we were pregnant just a few months after we were married. Hopefully, one day soon we can go on another trip just the two of us!

Funny Boy

This is a video of Brody from a couple of nights ago. Josh got him really excited and he did this for about 20 minutes. It was so cute and so funny!

9 Month Pictures

Wendy took Brody's 9 month pictures one evening a few weeks ago at a local park. These are just a few of the 60 great proofs that we have from the session. Brody was very cooperative at this session. The only real issue was that he tried to crawl to get the camera from Wendy the entire night! Thanks for the great pictures, Wendy! We love them!

Gone Fishin'

Josh has been dying to take Brody fishing, so this evening we went to a nearby lake and let Josh teach Brody how to fish! We had a lot of fun. It was hot as blazes, but we had a great time just hanging out together and relaxing.

Sadly, I forgot our live bait when we left the house. I have no idea how I missed the worms in my refrigerator, but thankfully, we had a ton of fake bait. I guess the correct term would be artificial bait. But really, the fish liked my gum best. I spit a wad in the lake so I could drink my diet coke (because gum and diet coke do not mix) and as soon as that piece of gum hit the water, the little fish went crazy!

I realized tonight that this is what my life will be like. Fishing, dirt, worms, woods, sweat. You know...life with boys! I wouldn't have it any other way. I am SO blessed! Brody was watching Josh bait the hook.

He looks really disgusted by the whole process! The boys fishing! The view of the lake

Happy 10 Month, Brody!

Can you believe Brody is 10 months old today? I know I am having a hard time believing it.

Tonight, we had our monthly cake! It was swimming pool themed and was extra cute!
Brody was asleep before every one got here. I don't think he remembered that we were having cake tonight!
He wished that he could get his hands on that cake. Only 2 more months and he can dig into one all by himself!
Brody had a little cake. I like the way I make organic baby food, and then, I feed him cake! Ha!
The three of us!

Allison got to come have cake with all of us tonight!

Brody has had a busy month learning and growing. Here is what he has been up to this month!
  • He now has 8 teeth! They have all grown in completely. We really love that he has them and can eat a lot of different things now.
  • He had meat for the first time this month. He likes it pretty well. He also eats a lot of table food now. Making good use of the 8 teeth.
  • He wasn't the biggest fan of sleep this month. It was not fun for any of us, considering we have been used to him sleeping through the night for the past 8 months! We did several middle of the night feedings for about 2 weeks. He also despised nap time. He got to enjoy many hours of "crying it out" this month. Thankfully, we have moved past this phase and are back on track! :)
  • He is saying several words... "hi", "bye bye", "dada", "mama", "ba" and "bo". Ba is what he calls his food. Not sure why! Bo is what he calls his boat he plays with in the bathtub.
  • He waves "bye bye" to everyone and everything. Even when we aren't leaving!
  • He loves to just stand in his crib and talk to things in his room.
  • He is into everything! Nothing is safe in our house and he cannot be left alone, even for a second!
  • He can drink through a straw and loves to try out all our Sonic Drinks! Sometimes he back washes, but I guess that's part of learning!
  • He is still scooting /crawling, but he does use both legs now.
  • He pulls up on everything and can stand holding onto things as long as he wants.
  • He climbs on top of things or into things as well.
  • He can stand alone for several seconds, but it scares him, so he usually sits down.
  • He can pretty much do any kind of moving task, except walking alone. I feel like we are still a couple of months away from that.
  • He finally moved up to size 3 diapers! And I think he may break the 20lb mark this month! Haha!
  • He still nurses 4-5 times a day. It is making me sad to think our days of nursing will be coming to and end in the next few months. I really have loved it.
  • He still takes his paci....I don't see that changing for a while.
  • He is just sooo much fun! I love this age!

Happy 10 month, Brody! We love you soooooo much!

Window Watching

Last night, Josh was working in the yard, so I pulled up the blinds in the guest bedroom so that Brody could watch. He stood up and watched for about 30 minutes. Every time he would see Josh pass by the window, he would get really excited, scream, and bang on the glass. It was so cute! When Josh moved to the backyard, I saw Brody crawl through the house and go sit in front of the glass door that goes out into the backyard. He probably sat there for another 30 minutes and watched some more. I know for a fact that he has never been that still, except for when he was sleeping! He was just mesmerized by yard work. Here are a few pictures I took.
