I just had a few things I wanted to post really quick. I highly doubt that the beach pics will be up today. I'm seriously struggling sorting through those. There are only hundreds of precious pics of Brody. How is a mom to choose? I decided to give a sneak peek though. Isn't this precious??Also, if you follow me on twitter, you might have seen my panic tweet yesterday about Rick's Bakery. Brody's 9 month B-day is on Friday and Rick's is closed all this week and doesn't re-open until Monday, so that means no Rick's cake on Friday. I tried not to hyperventilate at the news. At least I had time to make a back-up plan. Let's be honest, it doesn't matter where the cake comes from or what it looks like, but I just really love the way their cakes taste, and we all know I eat half the cake by myself by the time it's over with, so it just made me a little sad. Plan B is in the works! Let's hope the cake is cute as well. And in case you are wondering, the back-up plan is not me baking the cake! Ha!
Last thing...Happy Birthday to my friend, Heather! She is one of my very good friends from church. We also workout together every morning (unless I bail on her)!! She is such a sweet friend and I love being able to talk to her about mom things or just random things every morning.
Last night, we attended an event hosted by our church called Fireworks at The Crosses. There was live music, followed by 117 baptisms at the foot of the crosses, then, at dark, there was the fireworks display.
We had a great evening with family and friends. I was a little nervous about Brody sitting through the fireworks. I thought he would cry or it would scare him, but he didn't even jump! He just sat in our laps and watched. At one point he started cooing and talking to the fireworks. It was really sweet! In a cute little 4th of July outfit. He has 3, so he will be decked out most of the week!He was feeding himself. I love how serious he looks in this picture!
Brody and Gigi
Our friend, Baxter with Brody. I love this picture!Allison and Baxter ( they are engaged!) and Jill and her "friend" Brandon. I think she thinks we are stupid. Haha! I'm just saying.....Jill and Allison. We have known Allison forever. She grew up with us in Benton.Josh and Brody watching the fireworks.
I'm sorting through beach pictures and videos. I didn't figure y'all would want to see all the hundreds of pics so I will try to narrow them down a little!:) Hopefully, I will have some up in the next day or two.
Our church is hosting Fireworks at The Crosses tonight at the Pinnacle Hills campus in Rogers. Prior to the fireworks, they are planning on baptizing over 100 people at the outdoor baptistry under the crosses! We attended last year and it was awesome! If you are from our area, bring your family and come join us! There is no cost. You might want to bring some lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on while you watch.
Here is a pic of us at the fireworks last year. I was about 27 weeks pregnant and Brody jumped the entire time they were shooting off fireworks! I hope he enjoys them tonight!
A while back, everyone was doing the 25 random facts about themselves. I thought I would do 25 random facts about Brody. Some of these things you will know if you read the blog, but some things will be new info for you! Have a great Monday!
1. Brody's first name is Joshua. His middle name is Brody.
2. He was born on his due date, October 3rd.
3. His was born via c-section after almost 12 hours of labor. He weighed 8lbs 5 oz and was 22 inches long.
4. He was our little surprise baby and was born 5 weeks before our one year anniversary!
5. We thought about naming him Rhett David. Now, I cannot imagine him not being named Brody.
6. He is Josh's only blood relative, since Josh is adopted. ( We never think about that though!)
7. He started rolling over at 5 1/2 weeks old. Then, he started rolling the other way at 11 weeks. He is a rolling machine.
8. He slept 7 hours for the first time at 2 weeks ( I slept through his feeding and he didn't cry to wake me up). He started sleeping 12 hours straight at almost 3 months.
9. Even though he started sleeping in his crib at 2 weeks, he would always stay in bed with us after his 4:00 feeding until he was about 8 weeks old.
10. He hates his pack n play with a passion and has never slept more than an hour or two straight in it.
11. He still lays in bed with me for his morning feeding at 7. That's his cuddle time with mommy!
12. He sleeps with a lamp on at night. He also sleeps with a monkey rattle that I call "baby" and Josh calls "monkey."
13. His room has vanilla/tropical air freshener, but he still manages to make it smell like poop.
14. He has 7 teeth.
15. He loves to play with highlighters. With the caps on, of course.
16. He likes the blow dryer and thinks it's funny if we blow dry his hair!
17. He is the only grandchild on either side.
18. He never wears shoes. He always grunts until he gets them off, so since it's summer, he goes barefoot everywhere.
19. He is obsessed with door stops. We hear him playing with them all over the house.
20. He poops at the same time everyday. It's like clock work.
21. Sometimes we call him "Bro Bro", "Bo Bo", "Brosif", "Brodifis", and "Baby Brody".
22. His favorite toy is the stacking rings.
23. Instead of saying "Hi", he says, "I". It is sooooo cute!
24. He uses his left hand the majority of the time.
25. He went to his first Razorback tailgate party at the stadium parking lot when he was 3 weeks old! We parked and had about a 15 minute walk to the party, so we just strolled him there and back. We are serious Hog fans.
Happy First Father's Day to my precious husband. I knew when I married him that he would be a wonderful husband, but I had no idea what an incredible dad he would be as well. He is such amazing example of Christ in the way he treats our son and in the way he leads our family. I am so thankful that I get the privilage of raising a family with him.
Josh, we love you more than words can say and we are incredibly thankful for all you do for us, especially, for all you do as a dad. Thank you for the sacrifices you make for Brody. Thank you for the time you invest into his little life. Your love for him is a priceless gift. I am so thankful that YOU are the person he calls Dad. Love you, babe!
Brody and Josh were having a flex-off in the bathroom this morning. Brody thought his muscles looked so good he couldn't stop looking in the mirror! Haha!! And yes, Josh has a tattoo. It was a random 18 year-old moment that he gets to enjoy for the rest of his life!:)
We are about to go do a little shopping!! Hope you have a great Saturday!
I'm procrastinating doing things around the house, hence the name procrastination post. It's now 11:15 and I needed to do laundry and clean my dirty house tonight. The reason I have done nothing for the past hour is because the HOGS just won after 13 stinking long innings in Omaha. I like baseball for the most part, but I LOVE the HOGS, so of course we watched!! GO HOGS!
The rest of this post in random. I am seriously in a blogging slump and have not taken near enough pics this week. Forgive me Brody for not properly documenting Month 8, Week 2 of your life. I promise to make it up next week when I take 5000 pictures. OK, baby?
Last night, Brody was a little fussy around bedtime, so Josh sat on the couch with him and within 5 minutes he was asleep. I think he just needed a little cuddle time with his daddy!
Brody totally sprayed the front of my leg today right before I put him in the bath tub. I took his diaper off and held him for about 10 seconds before I put him in the water. Apparently, I should have just stuck him straight in the water. Fortunately, I was still in my workout clothes!
I just told Josh I didn't have much to blog about, so he wanted me to take a picture of him and tell y'all he is trying to grow a beard. So random! I do love him for his randomness though, and because he is so cute, too! (He will be shaving that this weekend. He just doesn't know that yet.)
Last night I was on here and happened to scroll down to look at the counter. I knew I was getting close to 100,00 hits, and would you believe that I just happened to hit it right on the mark?? Haha! I took a pic to prove it.
Ok, going to tackle the laundry, because you know it's never ending around here! :) I promise to take some pics of our boy tomorrow!
We are having one of those weeks where we are busy but we don't have a lot to blog about. I'm not sure how that happens. Anyway, this is from one night this weekend when Brody was supposed to be sleeping, but was playing instead. He kept trying to climb onto his bumpers to get himself up even higher! Then, he would take his paci out, laugh at himself, the put the paci back in his mouth. Hope you have a great Tuesday!
Friday morning, Brody and I got up made cookies. We took dinner to our friends Katie and Jason that night, so we made those for their dessert. I love having someone to help me in the kitchen! Look how sweet he is with his plastic spoon. He was concentrating on eating that banana. (And don't worry, I stood by him the entire time he was in his bumbo on the counter!)Then B took a bath! He is seriously LOVING bath time these days! This is a video of him "swimming" in the bath tub. He is all over the place!
Then, he got dressed because he was supposed to have gone shopping with Gigi and Jill, but bad storms with tornadoes came through NWA, so he ended up just hanging at the house with them while I got my hair colored. He also stayed with them instead of going to FNO, while Josh and I went on a date. I cannot even begin to say how much we appreciate that our family is so willing to keep Brody so we can go out. Josh and I are able to go on a date night once a week, and sometimes twice a week, like this past week. When you have only been married a year and a half, you REALLY need those nights together. Not that other parent's don't need it, because they do, but we have spent a lot of our marriage focused on my pregnancy, his arrival, and then taking care of Brody, so it's nice to focus on our relationship for a change! :) Josh and I went to eat at Shogun, then went to TJ Maxx and a few other places.
Saturday, Josh and B went to see Julee, so Josh could get his hair cut, and I went to run off all that food from the night before. They seriously give you enough food for a family of 4 when you eat hibachi. It didn't really help with the bikini cause either. I swear those were the hardest three miles ever because I was swollen like an oompa loompa from all that fried rice. That meal is almost not worth the stress of trying to burn it back off. I said almost.
Saturday night we went to our small group fellowship at our friends, Jon and Lindsey's house. We had fajitas and they were soooo good! I laughed because everyone left the house by 8:30! You can tell most of us have kids that needed to get in bed. We are such a wild group! :)
We went to church this morning and then have just hung out this afternoon. I took a nap because we did not sleep very well last night. About the time I got to sleep it started storming like crazy. Then, Brody peed through his diaper, onesie, and sheet TWICE between 2am-6am! He is drinking a lot of water in his sippy cup and this is becoming a nightly thing, but not usually twice. Then, he woke up screaming at 6. Not crying, but screaming...like in anger!! I still have no idea what was going on. By the time we got him settled, it was time to get up and get ready for church.
I'm about to clean house a little and try and get organized for the week. I'm teaching swimming lessons in the afternoons this week, as well as getting ready for Florida. It should be a fun, busy week!
Ok, I suddenly realized I have not posted in a week and to prevent phone calls from family members and close friends, I thought I would put some pics up for every to get their Brody fix! Haha!
Josh worked in Little Rock on Friday, so we went down and stayed with his parents Thursday night. While Josh worked, Brody and I hung out at his parent's pool. It was such a nice weekend and the pool looked so pretty and inviting until we got in it and realized it was only 69 degrees!! Brody ended up just playing in his walker outside while I laid out. It was such a nice, warm day. We enjoyed being able to just hang out and enjoy the day.
He just looks cold in this picture!
Look at those two top teeth! I think they are so cute!
Josh's parents have a front load washer and dryer that was very entertaining to Brody!
It's hard to believe we are only 4 months away from his first birthday. We love him more and more every day! My heart honestly almost explodes on a daily basis because I love him sooooo much! Being a mom seriously is the best thing ever. This is my favorite age so far! Wait, I think I say that every month. It's crazy though, because I seriously love each stage more than the one before. I have loved every stage he has been in, but the more he is able to do, the more fun we are having with him.
We did a little beach theme tonight with the cake and his shirt since Brody is going to the beach for the first time in less than 3 weeks! (Well he went when I was pregnant but that doesn't count!) Check out the cake! Isn't it so cute??? They girls at the bakery keep telling my mom that we are really going to have to have an amazing cake done for his one year since we have spoiled him with a monthly cake. Don't worry. I have already started brainstorming for the perfect cake! And if you are wondering what the sand was, it was brown sugar! Oh my word. Those were the best pieces of the entire cake because of all that sugar! He has this little cake thing figured out now! Look how high Jill had to hold the cake. He was getting a little restless!
Look at how he has grown!
A pic with our big boy!
Brody and his ONLY girl! ;)
Brody has been a busy boy this month! Check out what he has been doing!
His top two front teeth came in on the very same day! And I noticed today that another tooth is coming in at the bottom. That's number 5!
He is crawling more and more. And by crawling, we mean army scooting!
He pulls himself up in his crib and can also pull himself up off the ground if you let him hold your fingers. It's amazing how strong his little body is!
He can say dada and mama, although we have only heard mama about 5 times and dada about 5 million times. It is the sweetest thing I have ever heard!
He bites momma all the time. Especially when she feeds him. It hurts more so bad with those 4 teeth!!!
He cracks himself up! Sometimes you will just play and jabber then he will just die laughing! It is so entertaining to us!
He started eating Cheerios this month. We go through a lot of those between Brody and daddy!
He is still not a fan of green veggies. It's very hard to get you to eat anything that is not orange or yellow!
He still sleeps with a blanket over his head.
He is in size 2 diapers. He wears 6 month shirts/onesie and 3 month pants. He's a skinny boy! His little pants look like capris.
He is still a great sleeper, although at times he just refuses to go to sleep and stays up late playing! As long as he isn't fussy we are totally fine with it!:)
He still nurses 5 times a day, eat 3 good sized solid food meals and has a morning snack of yogurt as well as an afternoon snack of cottage cheese and Cheerios. Yum!
He is the absolute love of our lives! (In case there were any questions!)
Josh plays softball on Monday nights every week. He usually has two games each Monday night. Both parks he plays at are pretty close to his office, so he usually goes straight from work to his games. Some nights it 10:30 before he is home from the games. Brody and I have never gone because of bedtime, or because Josh is the only married player on the entire team and I don't really have any friends to hang out with! Haha! He had been asking us to come for weeks, so last night, he only had one game, so he came home, ate dinner, then we all went to the game together. It was actually fun. One of the guys on the team is dating a girl I went to college with so we were able to catch up, and to be honest, I didn't even watch the game! :) They did run rule the other team so the game was over in 3.5 innings! That's my kind of game!
I totally forgot about our fresh food feeders until I saw them on another blog the other day. I pulled one of them out on Sunday night and put a banana in it and let Brody work on it. I should have known it would only take him like 30 seconds to eat the thing, because some mornings he eats two whole bananas for breakfast with yogurt. It's crazy! He ended up eating the entire banana in about 3 or 4 minutes. He screamed every time we took the feeder away from him to refill it! Haha! Poor thing. He has a beastly metabolism!
We got a little blow-up pool for B on Saturday. Yesterday, it was so pretty and warm, well actually almost hot, so we decided to try it out! Jill was over with us, so she took some pics while I stayed close by. At some points he liked it, and at other times, he wasn't so sure about it. His ex-lifeguard/swimming teacher mom is going to need him to like to swim! I'm not for sure what I will do if he is one of those kids that screams when they get in the water or when their head goes under. Those were the kids I would have to refrain from dunking during lessons. It would make me have nervous twitch if Brody started doing that! Haha! We are going to Benton this weekend. My in-laws have a pool, so hopefully we can spend some time in it this weekend and get Brody used to it.
We ended up having a great weekend, even though it started out with Josh being sick. Seriously, who wouldn't have a great weekend with this sweet boy?!! Haha! He is SUCH a ham!
Friday night, I took Brody over to my parent's house to spend the night, and then came home and took care of Josh. He basically slept all night, so it was pretty easy. His fever finally broke late that night, and by the next morning he was feeling good again!
Saturday morning, we slept late since Brody wasn't home to give us the 7:00 wake up call! I remember looking at the clock when I woke up at 9:00 and smiling because I have not slept 10 hours straight since August. (That was about the time I started losing sleep from pregnancy!) It was a REALLY good feeling! Brody isn't even the direct cause of my lack of sleep. It's the things I have to get done after Brody goes to bed that keeps me up until midnight. Then, Josh's alarm goes off at 6, so my body is just used to 6 hours a night now.10 hours was amazing!!
After we got up and got around, we ran out to my parent's house so I could feed Brody. We left him there after he ate since Josh hadn't been fever free for 24 hours. We had no idea what to do after that. Funny how you forget what you did without kids! We went to eat BBQ, then we went to Lowe's and bought some things for the yard. We went home and worked on the yard. Josh cleaned the windows on the outside of the house. I attempted to mow and mowed one strip and quit. I'm not even that girly, but I hated mowing! Then, we cleaned the inside of the house really, really good, so that we could bring Brody back home without him getting sick. We went and got him late that evening. We were soooo happy to see him!
Sunday, we went to church, then our small group had a lunch cookout at a nearby park. We all ate and then, the guys and two brave girls played ultimate frisbee. The rest of us girls sat in the shade and talked. It was so much fun! Brody hanging out at the park! Ultimate frisbee! Baby Owen catching a little nap in the shade. He loved laying on his blanket in the warm weather! I could seriously eat him up! He is sooo cute!
Sunday night, we decided to go to the drive-in movie! We took Brody with us and it worked out great. It's really close to our house so we knew we could get back home within 5 minutes if we needed to. He stayed awake and played for a little while, then slept the last half of the movie in his car seat. The movie Up was showing. It was so cute! It was a beautiful night and we had so much fun watching the movie outside!
Here is Brody at the drive-in. Probably right before he fell asleep! :)
Wife of an amazing guy, Josh. Mommy to two precious children, Brody (Oct 2008) and Jillian Kate (Sept 2010). Stay-at-home-mom who adores her job, but is never caught-up on laundry. Never. Thankful for date nights, play dates, Diet Coke, Razorback football, fall weather and running shoes. Blessed with an amazing family, sweet friends, a great church, and a wonderful Savior.
