Beach Pics-Days 1 and 2

I finally am getting around to posting our beach pictures from 2 weeks ago! The rest of the week will just be beach picture posts. Then, I can get back to regular blogging! Hope you enjoy them!

We left Fayetteville on Father's Day afternoon and drove to Benton (3 hours), where we met up with Josh's parents. We left from their house and drove to Jackson, Mississippi (5 hours) and spent the night there. That was close to the half way point in our trip. Needless to say we were ready for a break after 8 hours in the car. We took our car and Josh's parents took their car because we had so much stuff!! Brody did AWESOME in the car. We were able just to drive until he needed to eat or have a diaper change.

Josh and Brody during one of our stops Sunday night. (Josh wears glasses when he works at the computer or drives at night. He is like an old man.)

Monday, we headed out around 8:00, after little to no sleep for Josh and me. Brody isn't a fan of the pack n play, so he basically he spent the entire night between us in bed. :)

The lack of sleep didn't bother him. He was very happy in the car!

I fed him in his car seat some so that we wouldn't have to stop, so we had a little quality time in the backseat together.

We stopped and ate lunch at Cracker Barrel. He looked like such a big boy in his high chair. We ordered him the veggie plate off the kids menu and he ate it all up!

We got into Destin around 3:00 and unloaded everything into our room. Then we changed clothes and headed to eat at the Crab Trap. It's one of our very favorites! Brody ate some corn on the cob with his dinner. Now that he has 8 teeth he can work the corn for sure!We got back to the condo fairly early so we took Brody down to the pool to let him swim. He loves the water and loves trying to swim. video

Our Weekend

We had a fairly busy, but fun weekend!
Friday night, we dropped Brody off to attend FNO at church while we went on a date to the Arkansas Naturals' Baseball game. We had a lot of fun just hanging out and talking. It was so hot, but because the game was far from being sold out, we were able to move seats and sit in the shade. Eating ball park food for dinner! It was sooo good Saturday, my mom and I left my house at noon and drove to Benton (3 hours) to attend a wedding of some family friends. I grew up with the couple and their parents have been friends with my parents for years. I gave Josh and Brody the week off from attending a wedding. Mom and I stayed for just a short time at the reception and then headed back home. We got back to my house right around 9:00.

Josh and I then spent from 9-12:30 trying to convince Brody to go to bed. He wasn't the biggest fan of going to bed and screamed his head off demanding that he NOT be put into his crib. We were about to lose our minds. I have decided that every time I brag on how great of a sleeper he is, he reminds me that he knows how to stay up. He woke back up at 5:45 and decided that 5 hours of sleep was enough. I hate to say we were tired because I know some parents would die for 5 hours straight, but we honestly were tired!

Sunday, we went to church. Then, we came home and again tried to convince Brody that he really wanted to take an afternoon nap. Does anyone see a pattern here? Finally, at 3:00 he fell asleep and slept until we went to a birthday/swimming party. We had so much fun just visiting and hanging out with church friends. Brody was so tired after we left. He was in bed by 8:15. Thank you, Lord.
He loved hanging out in Zach's little crab floaty! (He looks really red in this pic but he wasn't. This was taken with Josh's iphone and isn't the best quality but I forgot my camera!)

I have a random question for you moms and it has nothing to do with my weekend, but I started taking Reglan this week. I had some issues that I will not go into on my blog, but because of them, my milk supply had decreased significantly, so I started Reglan on Thursday. So far it is really working well, but my stomach has hurt on and off since I started taking it. I was just curious if any of you had taken it and what your experience with it was.

Hope you have a great Monday!

And the green grass grows all around.....

Brody and I were at my parent's house on Sunday evening and I thought I would get a few pictures of him in the grass in their backyard. He wasn't sure about it at first, but before long he started to like it and even decided to try to eat a little grass.

Right as I took this one, 3 golf carts went by! It's still a cute pic though.

Nothing sweeter than baby feet....He couldn't figure out how he was going to crawl in it!

Tasting the grass...

He is such a happy baby!

Coming to get me!

He was waving "bye bye" to himself.

4th of July

We had a little different 4th of July this year. One of my best friends from college got married up here on Saturday evening. Amy and I met the summer before our freshman year. We were suite mates a couple of years as well.
The 3 of us before the wedding. We didn't coordinate on purpose. It just kind of happened that way!
I was having a clothing crisis and couldn't find a dress in my closet that I wanted to wear. I hadn't seen all my friends since my baby shower in August and I felt the pressure to look like I had not birthed a baby this past year, so I called Jill and she brought over about 7 dresses for me to choose from. She saved the day!
Amy and Matt. She looked beautiful! I loved her dress!Rachel, Nicole, Michelle and Me. Rach and Nicole were roomies and Michelle and I were roomies. The reception was a lot of fun. It was at Matt's parents house and they had a BBQ dinner with sweet tea which is one of my very favorite meals!
Michelle and Brody. I was sooooo excited for him to meet my friends. I seriously LOVE this picture of Brody and Kimbo that Becca took. Kimbo and I were suite mates our freshman year. She was probably one of the very first people I met at OBU. Jordan and Brody. Jordan is in law school up here so she sees Brody occasionally!Becca and Brody. Becca has a niece named Lottie. She is a couple of months older than Brody and I really think Brody wants to date her when they are older and go to OBU together. :)
After the wedding, Josh and I ran to Walmart and got a few things. We ended up having a little impromptu hot dog cookout at our house. Josh has been wanting hot dogs so we got those and I made cheese dip, and brownies and ice cream . We also had watermelon. We didn't get home from the wedding until about 8:30. We put Brody to bed before my family came over. About 10, Brody woke up from all the fireworks in our neighborhood, so we just let him eat a little while he was up. He was so sticky from the watermelon that we had to give him another bath!

Hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Rocker Dude Hair!

Brody decided he need some rocker hair to go with his guitar outfit yesterday, so he decided to go see Julee so that she could give him a faux hawk.

He wasn't too happy when he found out Josh had an appointment before him and he was going to have to wait.

So he decided to read a magazine to kill some time.

He loves catching up on everything that goes on in NWA.

Still waiting.....

Yay! It's finally his turn. Time to crawl over to Julee's station.

Handing Julee more product. He really wanted his hair to look good.

He said Rocker Dudes never smile, so he agreed to give me his best model face with a slight pouty lip.

Workin' his new do for the camera.

"Enough with the pictures...You people are becoming boring!"

One last pic of my two cuties and their good looking hair! Thanks, Julee.

Happy 9 Month, Brody!

Our little cutie is 9 months old today! Here is a picture of the cake. The bakery that we use was closed for the week, so we used another local bakery. I think they did a great job! The cake tasted just as good as the ones from Rick's. The side of the cake was really cute as well!
Eating a few bites of cake. He loves it!

Brody and Big DaddyMom was singing Ten Little Indians to Brody. Apparently, she does it a lot with him because he started pulling her fingers up as soon as she started singing!

Here is what Brody has been up to this month...

-He is crawling like a speed racer! We cannot believe how fast he can get around the house.

-He pulls up on things and stands. He also climbs all over everything. No piece of furniture is safe in our house these days!

-He says "dada" all the time and "talks" a lot.

-He waves at people and says "baba" for bye bye. Sometimes he gets confused and will wave and say "dada" instead of "baba". It's so funny!

-He says "Hi" but it sounds like "I" and he says it really high pitched and drawn out just like I say it to him. It's really funny to hear because it sounds like he is mocking me.

-He went swimming for the first time this month and LOVES the water. He also will go completely under water and never cries when he does.

-He eats ANYTHING we give him. Even some green veggies these days. He is also eating some table food now.

-He cut 2 more teeth this month so now he has 7. I think #8 is on its way in now!

-When he gets angry, he chews his crib. He also chews it when he is bored and doesn't want to nap.

-He has shown a few signs of separation anxiety this month, but it pretty much ended as soon as it started.

- He still sleeps great, except we have had to move his bedtime back for the summer. It's like his body knows it's still daylight outside at 7. Most night we shoot for 8 or 8:30 and he sleeps until 7 or 7:30.

- He still takes two naps. A short morning nap and a long afternoon nap.

-He spends most of his day crawling and playing on the floor and spends about an hour total in his exersaucer during the day.

-He drinks a TON of water everyday.

-He is still nursing. (My goal is to do it to one year)

-He is in a size 2 diaper and 6 month clothing and a size 3 shoe. His feet are rather large.

-He is incredibly cute, sweet and precious and we are incredibly in love with him!

Tuesday

I just had a few things I wanted to post really quick. I highly doubt that the beach pics will be up today. I'm seriously struggling sorting through those. There are only hundreds of precious pics of Brody. How is a mom to choose? I decided to give a sneak peek though. Isn't this precious??Also, if you follow me on twitter, you might have seen my panic tweet yesterday about Rick's Bakery. Brody's 9 month B-day is on Friday and Rick's is closed all this week and doesn't re-open until Monday, so that means no Rick's cake on Friday. I tried not to hyperventilate at the news. At least I had time to make a back-up plan. Let's be honest, it doesn't matter where the cake comes from or what it looks like, but I just really love the way their cakes taste, and we all know I eat half the cake by myself by the time it's over with, so it just made me a little sad. Plan B is in the works! Let's hope the cake is cute as well. And in case you are wondering, the back-up plan is not me baking the cake! Ha!

Last thing...Happy Birthday to my friend, Heather! She is one of my very good friends from church. We also workout together every morning (unless I bail on her)!! She is such a sweet friend and I love being able to talk to her about mom things or just random things every morning.
Hope y'all have a great day!

Fireworks at The Crosses

Last night, we attended an event hosted by our church called Fireworks at The Crosses. There was live music, followed by 117 baptisms at the foot of the crosses, then, at dark, there was the fireworks display.
We had a great evening with family and friends. I was a little nervous about Brody sitting through the fireworks. I thought he would cry or it would scare him, but he didn't even jump! He just sat in our laps and watched. At one point he started cooing and talking to the fireworks. It was really sweet! In a cute little 4th of July outfit. He has 3, so he will be decked out most of the week!He was feeding himself. I love how serious he looks in this picture!

Brody and Gigi

Our friend, Baxter with Brody. I love this picture!Allison and Baxter ( they are engaged!) and Jill and her "friend" Brandon. I think she thinks we are stupid. Haha! I'm just saying.....Jill and Allison. We have known Allison forever. She grew up with us in Benton.Josh and Brody watching the fireworks.

I'm sorting through beach pictures and videos. I didn't figure y'all would want to see all the hundreds of pics so I will try to narrow them down a little!:) Hopefully, I will have some up in the next day or two.
