Preschool Bound

Brody will be attending 3 year old preschool at our church’s private school beginning in the fall. Last week, I took him for his evaluation/interview with the Dean of the Elementary School.

He looked way too big on this particular day!

He was really proud of the dump truck that was drawn for him by Mrs. Foley. She was asking him to draw a few letters and numbers on a piece of paper and he asked her to draw him a dump truck! :) He was very specific with how he wanted it drawn. Thankfully, she just went with it!

When I tell him he is my baby and it makes me so sad he is growing so fast, he gives me this face! I just love this sweet boy so much!

DSC_0291 (428x640)

He knows he is a big boy and he is so excited about going to school 2 days a week this fall! I am so looking forward to all the great things that are in store for him at preschool!

Weekend Recap

Saturday, Jillian and I went to a baby shower for Melissa and her sweet baby boy, Crew! Before we left the house, Brody wanted a picture with us. This picture makes me laugh because both of them were smiling at themselves in the mirror that was next to us! Ha!

Me, Kelly, Ashley and Melissa- The shower was SO cute and so fun! Crew is one very loved little boy already!

Jillian was very enteratined at the shower by this very girly playroom!

While we were at the shower, Brody and Josh went to eat with my parents, my aunt and uncle and several of our family friends who were up from Benton for the Razorback basketball game Saturday.

Saturday night we were wild and crazy and stayed home, ate, and caught-up on laundry! :)

Sunday, went to church! I thought Brody looked so handsome in his sweater vest.

Sunday afternoon, Josh and I met my parents and a couple of their friends to watch the Hogs play baseball! We got a babysitter for the kids so that they could stay home and take naps!

We had such a great time! We never go on afternoon dates, but it was fun to be out together in the afternoon alone!

Sunday night, we met several families and couples from church at a local restaurant to celebrate the birthday of my sweet friend and pledge sister, Emily! Emily’s parents threw a fun party with lots of pizza and cake! Here are a picture of a few us girls that were there to celebrate!

Our Valentine’s Day

We had a super sweet Valentine’s Day! We spent the morning at church at Bible study, then came home that afternoon and got ready for a fun night at the house…just the 4 of us!

While I worked on getting things ready for dinner, Brody painted some Valentine’s pictures for us to hang-up! He was so proud, and he was so covered in paint that he had to take a bath as soon as he was finished! :)

DSC_0255 (430x640)

Jillian was SO excited to see her favorite Valentine when he got home from work! Have you ever seen such a cheesy smile? She is hilarious!

DSC_0258 (640x428)

She wasn’t wanting a picture with me!

DSC_0262 (640x428)

Brody helped me make his and Jillian’s heart-shaped sandwiches for dinner.

DSC_0257 (428x640)

We love our heart-shaped cookie cuter! It’s used all year long!

DSC_0265 (640x428)

We all ate together and wore our pajamas. I fixed pesto chicken stuffed shells for Josh and I, but I wish I had just made breakfast for dinner for all of us. I think heart-shaped pancakes in our pajamas are a must for next Valentine’s Day!

DSC_0275 (640x426)

We all exchanged cards/gifts while we ate. Brody loved his Diego card!

DSC_0281 (428x640)

He helped Jillian open her card!

DSC_0282 (428x640)

And Jillian loved her princess card, too!

DSC_0286 (640x428)

Here are our precious babies last Valentine’s Day! Jillian was almost 5 months old and Brody was 28 months old. They have both changed so much since last year!

DSC_0302b

Valentine’s Day sure have changed since we have had kids, but there is no where I would rather spend Valentine’s night than at home with the 3 people I love the most!

The Doughmestic Housewife

I’ve blogged a few times about the adorable cookies that my friend, Holly, has made for us for special occasions. In October, she just decided she wanted to try to make decorative sugar cookies, so she tried it and she was extremely good at it! Four months later, she is making cookies like a crazy woman! I have seriously never seen cookies any cuter than the ones she makes!

The great news is Holly can ship her cute and delicious cookies, so even if you don’t live in our area, you can still order from her for all the special events in your life!! Holly has started a blog that’s all about cookies! It’s called The Doughmestic Housewife and is live now! Go here to check it out

Playing Catch-Up

Hi, there! I took a little accidental break from blogging. We have stayed busy this past week, but nothing too blog worthy, so I guess that’s why I haven’t blogged. I’ve also been working hard to not spend time on the computer during the day when the kids are awake or at night when Josh is at home. This leaves nap time for me to be on the computer and I have lots of other things that have kept me busy during naptime this week!

Here are a few random pictures from this week…

Jillian has been pretty obsessed with these these Happy Baby pouches this week. It’s funny because she wouldn’t eat them when I was making her baby food, but now that she is eating table food she likes these. Go figure. They are good to send as her vegetable for MDO. I know she can eat it by herself without making a huge mess.

IMG_0615

We ran to the mall one evening this week to return something for Josh. While we were there we made a quick stop at THe Children’s Place. Jillian did a little shopping!

IMG_0625

I never shop there for her, but couldn’t pass-up seersucker dress with rosettes for the spring/summer!

Jillian has loved taking pictures of herself with my phone this week! :)

IMG_0652

I walked past the dishwasher right after lunch one day this week and realized that Jillian stuck a piece of cheese from her lunch on there. Just keeping it real! :)

IMG_0631

Also, just another picture of how together I have been this week…I cleaned these out of my car. They were all empty water sippy cups from church.  Brody takes 2 cups sometimes so that explains a few of them, but for the most part I completely slacked on this job this week! I’m a work in progress! :)

IMG_0632

Brody and I played “baseball” during Jillian’s nap one day this week. He wanted to wear this box as a hat while we played! It sort of looked like a dunce hat! :)

IMG_0634

We had MOPS yesterday and our topic was on marriage. I had the girls make these frames for their craft. I printed off several colors of the chevron from Sarah’s blog for them to choose from. You just write on the frame with dry erase marker so you can change what you love about them each day. I encouraged the ladies to use it over the next few weeks to leave their husbands encouraging notes!

IMG_0655

Today, the kids had Valentine’s parties at MDO. Instead of just sending little valentines, I had Holly make these adorable cookies. Then I bagged the cookies and attached a little card to each of them for their friends.

IMG_0651

I’m heading to tackle the laundry and a few other things around here! Hope you all have a great day!

B-R-O-D-Y

During Jillian’s morning naps, Brody and I usually read books, play with his toys, color pictures, or anything else he wants to do. This morning while Jillian napped, we practiced writing his name. Brody has known how to spell his name for quite a while, but we haven’t  practiced writing his name very often. I took some pictures of his writing. I think it will be fun to compare it to his writing in a few months when it has {hopefully} improved.

First, we practiced writing each letter individually. I wrote the letter twice and then he would practice writing it on the other side. We would erase and practice again and again.

After we worked on each letter individually, we worked on writing his name. I thought he did pretty well!

IMG_2566

He was so proud of himself each time he would write a letter! I was so proud of him, too! I can’t believe how fast our little boy is growing!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Brody the Barista

When Brody became potty trained a few months ago, he began waking-up early in the mornings so he could go to the bathroom. For the past month or two, he has been waking up between 5:30-6:00 most morning. If we are really lucky he might sleep until 6:30, but that’s only once every few weeks. For a while, I was trying to get-up before Brody, but I just can’t beat him most mornings. Josh is almost always awake when Brody wakes-up and has been encouraging him to go back to his room and rest or play quietly until it’s light outside. We are working hard on getting him to stay in his room past 5:30! :)

One of the perks to these early mornings is that Brody somehow learned how to work our Keurig. I guess he watched us use it enough and figured it out. Before he comes into our room to wake me up, he makes a cup of coffee for me and has it waiting for me under the Keurig. I usually wake-up most mornings to a sweet little voice saying, “Mommy, get up! Your french ba-nilla coffee is ready!” Such sweet words to this sleepy momma’s ear!

IMG_1066

Here he is making coffee for me! He gets a stool from our table, turns on the machine, chooses the coffee (always French vanilla), and then makes the coffee! He knows not to move it once it is made so he doesn’t get burned. He also doesn’t take out the K-cup after he is done because he knows it’s hot, too. He literally just makes the coffee and walks away! :)

IMG_3836

On our way to Mother’s Day Out yesterday, I heard his little voice from the backseat randomly say, “There is only one french ba-nilla left.” I asked him to repeat himself because I wasn’t sure what he was saying and as he repeated the same thing. I realized he was talking about coffee. When I got home from dropping him off, I checked our K-cup carousel and saw this. Only one French vanilla! :)

IMG_8253 (640x478)

He was right, and I hadn’t even noticed since he was the one who had been making coffee!

When I picked him up from MDO I asked him if he would like to go buy some more k-cups. (We have tons of regular Folgers and Starbucks cups, but I love the flavored coffee best!) He was so excited to get to chose the coffee flavor. He walked straight to the coffee display, picked-up this box of French vanilla K-cup, and said, “Here it is! French ba-nilla!” Smart boy! :)

IMG_1102 (478x640)

He also chose chocolate glazed-donut, which is one of our other favorites!

IMG_4902 (640x478)

He was so excited about the new K-cups that he talked all night last night about how he was going to make chocolate donut coffee this morning! :) I’m so thankful for his servant’s heart! What blessed parents we are to have such a sweet little guy and to have a live-in barista! :)
